After reaching 82f in parts of the house, I had to suspend crunching until about 3AM.
That is when the cool front is expected to blow through.
Can't open the windows with a fan, it is raining pretty good out.
Mid January and I had to turn the A/C on to cool the house down.
Lucky it is a long challenge. Going to be very cold again the next few days.

Man that is COOKING hot! I know the 2p and 4p computers are fire hot but wow. It is hanging around the upper 60s outside here and it rained after 1:00est today. I have a box fan in the window of the rental I am living in. The room is an addition and has a window unit AC. Perfect for my crunchers.
Cool off bill1024!

winter should never be so hot you need AC on....but climate change doesn't exist =P. I've had to turn on the AC a few times last month =(,.

Its not the Winter that is hot, it is the two hundred+ computer cores running in the house.
I think it got to 58f out, that is a little warm, but considering the cold snap we just had, and will have after tomorrow.
It all evens out.

The climate seems to have changed a little bit, seems like the Winters are colder like we had when I was a kid.
Ice cold weather with snow, then a a warmer day or two to melt the snow some so we can have snowball fights.
Back then the kids played outside. It was fun.

Yes the weather does remind me of when I was a kid. Tree forts, sling shots, BB guns, and tennis ball cannons. I remember being in middle school and it started snowing - the teachers let all of us outside. It was fun but lasted only a day.

True, the 200+ cores do make things a little warm ^_^.  But for me, ambient temp outside the house did still hit the 80's on some days in dec/jan =(.

Yep, in the home stretch.  I'm wrapping up my last 2 tasks tonight and won't be able to squeeze any more in before the challenge's end.

I doubt SOB would be only one week, they may not even do SOB next year.
That is the one thing I like about BOINC, they let you use your hardware a long time.
Not like folding where you spent a ton on money and then your hardware is obsolete.

Challenge: Happy New Year
App: 13 (SoB-LLR)
(As of 2018-01-14 11:53:18 UTC)

30892 tasks have been sent out. [CPU/GPU/anonymous_platform: 30892 (100%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

Of those tasks that have been sent out:

6783 (22%) came back with some kind of an error. [6783 (22%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
16772 (54%) have returned a successful result. [16772 (54%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
7338 (24%) are still in progress. [7338 (24%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

Of the tasks that have been returned successfully:

3 (0%) are pending validation. [3 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
16348 (97%) have been successfully validated. [16348 (97%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
172 (1%) were invalid. [172 (1%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
249 (1%) are inconclusive. [249 (1%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

The current leading edge (i.e., latest work unit for which work has actually been sent out to a host) is n=23720626. The leading edge was at n=19690628 at the beginning of the challenge.

From PG

The double check is 22.82% completed.

With the challenge ending tomorrow, considering the length of these tasks, it's time for our public service announcement about being a good netizen as the challenge is completed...

At the Conclusion of the Challenge

We would prefer users "moving on" to finish those tasks they have downloaded, if not then please ABORT the WU's (and then UPDATE the PrimeGrid project) instead of DETACHING, RESETTING, or PAUSING.

ABORTING WU's allows them to be recycled immediately; thus a much faster "clean up" to the end of a Challenge. DETACHING, RESETTING, and PAUSING WU's causes them to remain in limbo until they EXPIRE. Therefore, we must wait until WU's expire to send them out to be completed. These tasks have a 21 day deadline, so that's up to three weeks we'd need to wait for just a single abandoned task. Thank you!

Home stretch for sure. I am less than 24 hours from getting my Amethyst badge. I started the challenge with 0 points on SOB.

It was definitely a marathon. The upside is I got an Amethyst badge for this subproject!
And our small team did really well!!!

IT"S OVER!!!!! A very solid fifth place at that.

We're done!

Challenge: Happy New Year

32840 tasks have been sent out. [CPU/GPU/anonymous_platform: 32840 (100%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

Of those tasks that have been sent out:

7694 (23%) came back with some kind of an error. [7694 (23%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
19093 (58%) have returned a successful result. [19093 (58%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

The current leading edge (i.e., latest work unit for which work has actually been sent out to a host) is n=23811487. The leading edge was at n=19690628 at the beginning of the challenge.

The double check is now 24.02% complete. Usually we do about 2% per month. We did just under 10% in this 15 day challenge -- that's about 10x normal, which is pretty amazing. Great job everyone!

While we didn't find a prime, finding a prime would have been a bit of a "double edged sword". On the one hand, finding a prime would be great news. On the other hand, it also would mean that we had done thousands of hours of computations beyond that prime needlessly.

If we find a prime -- great! If we don't, that's also kind of great. It's a win-win.

Only 3/4 of the double check still needs to be done...
