Yeah, it is early yet. These are some long tasks even with MT. Way too early to tell.
The large farms with slower CPUs will be turning in tasks soon, and those that do not use MT will be a couple days out.
 
I have a bunch of stuff to do too, I want to put a couple on Linux Mint and a couple are going back to win7 Pro.
I have one more X79 - E5-1650 to throw together, maybe later tonight

FYI on my Ryzen 7 1800X (807978) I have SMT Off (HT) and running 6 Cores Taking a little over 15 Hours.
Run time 54,321.00
CPU time 311,593.42

But only Time *3 Days or more will give us a Better Known Team Position.



Ryzen 1700X running at 3.8 - HT on 2 cores per task running 7 tasks looks like they should end up right on par with what you are seeing bcav
I just have to wait and drop all 7 at once, I may switch this one back to a single task so I get some extras done by the end.
 
The 2P is running 3 cores per task with 9 tasks going is showing just under 2 days per task, this is about 2 hours more per task then when I tested
with 12 cores per task running 2 tasks.

I would keep it at 2 4 6 8 and so on an even number of Threads to Keep the same number of Cores.
Myself I am running: *Not sure they will all run for 15 days.
6 Cores Ryzen 7 1800X SMT or HT Off or Disabled
16 Threads i7-5960X HT On or Enabled
12 Threads i7-3930K HT On or Enabled
6 Cores i7-3970X HT Off or Disabled (Linux OS) [Going to change to 12 Threads HT On or Enabled]
2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2667 v4 @ 3.20GHz
Running 2 Tasks Each 8 Cores HT Off or Disabled
2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v4 2.4GHz
Running 2 Tasks Each 14 Cores HT Off or Disabled
2x Opteron (16-Core) Model 6274 2.2 GHz 16 Cores
Running 2 Tasks Each 16 Cores

MS did it to me again, another system updated to the new OS ver and rebooted.
Glad I caught it and only lost 5 hours up time.
Why oh why did I install win10 on my systems.

I got lucky with WIN10.
On my S2600CP, I never updated after setting it up.
The registry edit to set metered ethernet connection is still working.
 
On my main rig, I use it everyday, so I notice when the 30 days is up and I have to update and reset the "ignore updates" thing.
 
Thanks bcav for showing your PC settings.
I always do MT for primegrid based on actual cores.  This time I am raising it to see what happens.
At first I ran:
3930k - 6 threads, 1 task
e5-2670 (x2) - 8 threads, 2 tasks
 
Now trying:
3930k - 10 threads, 1 task
e5-2670 (x2) - 12 threads, 2 tasks
 
Leaving room for GPU work and some other projects.  Will see how performance is affected.

Which is why I don't use the home version of WIN10, with the Pro version you can schedule WHEN the updates are to take effect. Giving you plenty of time to prep things. Unlike the Home version which says "You're to stupid to know anything."

Think again, I am using win10 pro, I had windows updated turned off in the services app, it updated anyway.
And it will update your too when it wants to, because MS owns win10, you get to barrow/rent it, they will do as they please.
There is nothing yo can do to stop it besides turn off your router and unplug the computer.

After changing 6 Cores i7-3970X HT Off or Disabled (Linux OS) [Going to change to 12 Threads HT On or Enabled]
Running 1 Task on 12 Threads dropped my time by more then 2 Hours
I Also set my 6 Cores Ryzen 7 1800X SMT or HT Off or Disabled to use 8 Cores and stopped Folding on this rig.
I am still Folding but on my low end 4 Core 8 Thread AIO rig as I only run two CPU Threads on WGC and the two GPUs to Folding or running BOINC GPU Projects.
Now the only Rigs I have HT Off or Disabled are on my two servers running 14/14 and 8/8

So make sure you are comparing apples to apples. You may have a small and a large you're looking at.

So make sure you are comparing apples to apples. You may have a small and a large you're looking at.


OK... It went from 22 Hours to 15 Hours sorry I was off a little.
I did not know about the 3 different tasks sizes.
So guess I have to through out all my times Current Times

Think I calculated this all correct.  On the 2P testing 2 tasks 12 threads each average time to complete both, average was 20.56 hrs.
Now I am running 7 tasks 4 threads each, and average time to complete all 7 was 54.24 hrs.
so with 12 threads it would get me 5.277 tasks in the same amount of time I get 7 with 4 threads.
So with 7 tasks running its about 33% more tasks in the same amount of time.

Looks like PG recommends running LLR from the command line when comparing configurations to optimize your system.
 
I always tell people to shut down BOINC and run LLR/Genefer/Whatever from the command line with a specific number so you can do your benchmarks under controlled conditions. If you use live tasks from the server, you're going to be comparing tasks that are not the same -- sometimes consecutive tasks will differ by as much as 10 or 20 percent. It's impossible, under those conditions, to reliably come to valid conclusions about which configuration is best. You're likely to be mislead to the wrong conclusions.

There are some exceptions, where tasks have nearly identical runtimes: SGS, GCW-Sieve, and PPS-Sieve. No other live tasks should be used for benchmarking.

Glad I caught it and only lost 5 hours up time.

From what I have read in the past, the best way to run MT is to keep the task running in the CPUs caches memory.
If it has to go off chip to the system memory it slow it down. If the CPU has 20mb L3 and tasks are 5mb, you can run3 with some room over.
If the tasks are 15mb you should run 1 task.
I am not sure how big these tasks are, or even how big the task I am running now is.How big will the next task be?????
So I am sticking to one task to one CPU
 
I would say if you're running more than one task per CPU, then with LLR tasks you want fast system memory.
So tweaking memory to run faster or run tighter timings would help with production.
I learned to not do this in a challenge!!! A system running is faster than a system that just blue screened......
 
With three different sized tasks being sent out, to make an adjustment and see one task is a hour faster, were they the same size?
If not you cant tell. Maybe make an adj. a quarter the way in, take note how long for each %, then make the adj. do another 1/4 task
then see how long that was per % point. You can make several adj. per the same task to see if it helps.
 
Tasks maybe getting longer as the challenge goes on, but older tasks can be sent out as people abort them or they fail and be sent back out.
