That’s my guess: liquidating the old standard to make room for the new.

I've had a Platinum 1600 for years now. That's getting upgraded to a Titanium. Tempted to grab another one.

Time for new PSUs. The new high end PSUs need that 16pin GPU cable.

I grabbed a Titanium 1600w. I posted a question about upgrading from 1600G+ to 1600T2 and as I thought there is no performance difference between them just efficiency. However at that price I think even just the efficiency upgrade is worth it. Total price with free shipping is less than half what I paid for the 1600G+ from newegg.ca 1 year ago. I'll sell the G+ locally and most likely get very close to what I paid for the T2. I'm not sure what EVGA is coming out with that they needed to unload these so cheap but I won't need another PSU for a while. :)

Efficiency is the main one between Bronze, Gold, Platinum and Titanium. As for wattage the PSU will only draw what it needs but having a 1600w for example running at 800w will mean it's only running at 50% of its load and thus shouldn't get warm enough to ever spin the fan to cool it down while in eco mode. The larger wattage PSU also have more connectors than most users would never need.

One would hope. I just bought a Seasonic 1300 Platinum (building my LR Alder Lake pc in anticipation of 4000 series). It was very tempting to buy one these EVGA psu (even to have as a backup), but I just couldn't do it, the 12 year warranty of the Seasonic won me over.

I was unaware Seasonic had 12 year warranty for some of their PSU's. Good to know. Seasonic has an excellent reputation for PSU quality. I have never owned one, I tried to find one last time I needed a new PSU but crypto meant nothing was in stock anywhere except for ridiculous prices. Do you know if Seasonic builds their own? I know SuperFlower used to make EVGA's PSU, I'm not sure if they still do? Does anyone know if SuperFlower made every EVGA PSU or just certain models?

I came across this thread (it is recent too): https://forums.evga.com/Is-there-a-products-guide-of-EVGA-Power-Supply-m3532618.aspx This is the kind of thing that makes it hard to choose EVGA for psu(s)...I NEED to know who the OEM is. I've never owned a Seasonic either...interestingly enough. My last enthusiast power supply purchase was the Corsair AX1200i in 2014 or 2015...turns out it was a good purchase, though it did die due to capacitor aging (I was running it no where near the max). This was in 2018 and Corsair sent me a brand new unit...no muss, no fuss. I've been "lucky" enough to have 2 power supplies die, actually. the first was a PC Power & Cooling 750 watt(yes, before the OCZ buyout). Anyway, I am grateful to this day for the first failure, led me to find Johnny Guru's info (I was actually able to tell them which cap failed) and taught me just how important the psu is. I agonize over power supply choices. All this said, I was forced to buy a prebuilt (I was willing to pay an honest business the extra money, but not a scalper) to get a 3080 last year and choose the EVGA 850 G5, it has served me well. but since I am getting ready for the 4000 series, I'm not going to skimp on the power supply. My first choice was actually the Asus Thor 1200 watt, but I changed my mind on the case and the new case would not display the lcd..so no point in getting that (Seasonic is the oem for those power supplies...they are modified Prime units)
