is any one else having the scanner crash when you try and auto oc the card from the manual run tab ? i have reinstalled the latest version for xoc three times , completely removed the EVGA file from the system files, and restarted pc each time . still crashes and wont complete with out closing scanner each time. new card its a replacement for a card the recently failed ( 1080 FTW2 ). Older version of the software worked fine hit RUN and it completed scan and set up with no problems.

I'm having this same issue.  RMA'd my 1070 FTW as I thought the card was defective.  Try to run the Auto VF curve and same thing.  The scanner window crashes, then the XoC app has a difficult time being redrawn and sometimes the whole screen goes black and I lose use of my PC for about a minute.  I want to say the issue started with 6.1.14, but I have tried reverting to .13 and also the updated .15 and .16; while deleting the install folders before installing a different version.  Before I did the RMA I had done a complete clean install of Windows 10 to try and narrow down the problem and only changes I've made since is installing Rocket League and XoC.  I know when I first got the card the auto OC scanner worked because I thought it was the coolest thing!

I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, and memtest86 overnight and didn't come up with any errors, my PSU is putting out rock solid voltages.  Only things left are the mainboard and the CPU, but I'd prefer it be a software issue!!

Most likely your cards are fine and it is a PXOC Software Issue.
I have never used the Auto OC, I just set the voltage to max and the Power and Temp to the Max and then start with +20 on the GPU slider and I do not OC the GPU Memory.

I'd believe that, but, I know it worked at one point, and I've replicated that one point.  XoC 6.1.13, .14, .15, .16 all crash. And I know it worked on .13.  I've even gone so much as to install each driver that was released from the time I bought my card, ends up with the same results.  If I close the scanner window fast enough it will continue on but it seems that once it nears a 1.8GHz step, it locks up.

It also could be Newer NVIDIA Drivers as well.
The last few have not been very good IMO.

Must not be able to quote myself on this forum software, but I did mention I've tried every nvidia driver from the time I bought my card

I use Driver 373.06 on all but 1080 Ti Cards and on my 1080 Ti Cards I use 378.92.
But as others will post time to RMA.

I'll give 373.06 a try, I would RMA, but I literally got this card installed a little over 12 hours ago from an RMA.

I am also running EVGA_PrecisionX_OC_Setup_v6.1.6.exe as I have no RGB to mess with on all but one rig.
On that one rig I am running 6.1.11

I would never tell someone to rma their card because xoc's auto oc scanner caused the app to crash.

I was experiencing low benchmark scores with the card as well, that was when I decided to RMA.

There was some improvement with driver 373.06 and XoC 6.1.13, but still froze.  installed XoC 6.1.6 and it seems to be working as intended.  Thank you!!

    Good to hear
I only wish I could run Driver 373.06 on my 1080 Ti Cards.

Re: Precision xoc auto oc scanner crashing 2018/05/12 15:18:38 (permalink)
I am bringing this one back from the dead! So I have been having a LOT of issues with the current XOC software. I recently found time in my life to start gaming again and stacked up on the latest and greatest hardware. For the video card, I naturally defaulted to EVGA since they have been the "best" since I could remember. I ordered my SC2 1080ti and it was amazing. So I remembered this program called "MSI Afterburner" to get a little more out of it and loaded it up. I was able to pump it up to +30 on the GPU clock and +500 on the memory with no issues.

Upon registering my video card on the EVGA site I saw they had their own software which controlled the special "iCX" fans better. Naturally, I installed it. I was having SO MANY issues! The program I used to gauge my performance gain was "Underbenchmark" as I have used it in the past. Now that I had switched to XOC it was constantly crashing on the GPU part of the benchmark. Overwatch wasn't crashing, but had strange hangs here and there and felt like 30fps at times versus the 100+ it said it was running at. I didn't think anything about it and ran sfc /scannow, memtest, and a bunch of other stuff like **** happened! I assumed the overclock was just not 100% stable on my CPU. I tried removing all overclocking and everything but still experienced strange behavior from games.

I FINALLY started to find threads stating how badly the software actually is and I ran across this one with a "fix" to install 6.1.6. If I install anything over this version I get really strange issues. This is very disappointing as I remember all the way back to the computer expos of the early 2000s when EVGA was the expensive gold standard in graphics and now they can't even produce stable software. It's definitely disappointing to see all the issues to say the least.

The OC scanner actually has settings... you need to manually adjust how far it will try to overclock, and at what increment it will increase the clock speed until it reaches the target.

To get to this window, just click the settings button when on the overclock scanner page.

Essentially what the OC scanner does is start off at the default clock speed for a given voltage, and then starts testing +0, +12.5, +25, etc (depending on your start/step/end configured in the settings above). In order to get the OC scanner working, all you need to do is lower the end target. Once you do that it shouldn't freeze half way through (and if it does, that means you probably need to keep lowering the end target as your graphics card is most likely incapable of reaching that clock rate at the given temp/voltage).

The OC scanner isn't going to work magic, all it's going to do is tell you the limit of your card (and it does a pretty bad job at it considering the fact that the scanner can't detect when your whole computer has become unstable due to too high of an overclock, lol).
