I will have Precision X1 open from start up in desktop. At some point while playing a game, I'll notice my system is unusually quite.
I minimize, look for X1. Not minimized, not in the hidden icons.
Open X1, temps are high and I hear the fans ramp way up.

Is this an issue for anyone else?
I want to fix this, tired of finding my expensive gpu cooking itself.

If you're running Version 1.0.3.0, uninstall it and try Version 1.0.2.0 found here at the bottom of the page.

You really should have another temperature monitoring program rather than just relying on the PX1 alarm which is set to 100C and with no way to change it..Maybe something like Real Temp or whatever where you can change the alarm temp.

This happened before version 1.0.3.0 and since.
It should prompt when crashing and default the fans to 30%. or something

    What specific OS ?

Are you running it as Admin ?

Are you running the "Custom Fan Curve" ?

Try setting "fixed" @ 80% fan speed ... even if your X1 crashes ... the fans should hold at 80% ... watch your Temps as the fan speed will be fixed .. so, do not use a low fixed speed.... make sure it is appropriate for the load on your GPU

No, I will set it to run as admin.

Yes I am running a custom fan curve I set.
The lowest I have it set is 30% at idle temps. Never set to stop.

Thanks for the input, I'll let you know if these things help.

Yeah, that's the first and foremost thing mentioned in the PX1 troubleshooting link above in Post #4.

Re: Precision X1 crashing randomly 2020/03/27 02:22:05 (permalink)
Okay, I think I found the cause and solution.
I tried a few different games and scenarios to find out when it was crashing.

It seemed to crash whenever launching the UPLAY app for Rainbow Six Siege.
The Uplay App would also cause discord and some firefox tabs.

The solution was to go into Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings and turn off "Low Latency Mode". Restart the PC.
Running X1 in Admin also gives a crash prompt.
After that was done, no problems.

    Thanks for the input guys.
