Resurrecting another issue from back before the old forum posts got nuked.  Precision X1 consistently hangs for me after varying periods of time, ranging from a few hours to past 8 hours.  When this happens my tray temperature disappears, and attempting to bring up PX1 via double-clicking the tray icon  either brings up no window at all, or a frozen one.  It will at that point either eventually give a "Not Responding" error and crash, or I will just manually kill it via Task Manager.

This issue has been happening ever since I used PX1 (for well over a year), and has persisted across different OS installations (Win7 Ultimate previously and currently Windows 10 Pro).  It's definitely not a scheduled task shutdown, the application is hung.  My system otherwise has zero stability problems.

As stated in the old thread, I am happy to help try and track this down/debug.  It's a persistent annoyance.

(Yeah, I realize that seems like a pretty crazy CPU/GPU mismatch, but you'd be shocked at how well things perform)

I am curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.  Back when first reported many people said they had the same problem, but perhaps it's better for some folks now...?  If you did have this problem and don't any longer, that would be interesting to know.

This is still happening for me, on every version up through the latest.  Is anyone else having this issue still?

Right-click on the PX1 desktop shortcut..Then Properties..Then in the Compatibilty tab, click Change settings for all users..Then checkmark Run this program as an administrator..Then OK..Then OK..Then see how it rolls..This is especially important when running Windows versions like Pro that have elevated security/privileges for programs to run/run properly.

I pretty much have everything run as admin by default, still get this problem. It's trying to load some configs or something and fails. Only explanation I can make what with it failing to also load half of the settings.

I presume a line of code somewhere is just causing a pagefile/hard fault when it tries to load it, stutters, then just loads defaults

I stopped using PX1 altogether for this and other reasons but now to control the three fans separately I need it :\

I do run this as admin, and it occurs both when started automatically as part of startup, or if I start it manually (which of course prompts to give admin rights).

Bumping, as this has continued to happen for me consistently since, well forever.  Anyone else still seeing this issue?  Hoping that since the tray temp size got fixed after a few years, maybe this will be next.  ;)

Still happening on 1.2.8.  Behavior has changed slightly such that the tray temperature no longer disappears when it's hung/frozen, which actually makes it a little worse as there's no way to see at-a-glance that it's frozen.  You just have to notice that the temperature hasn't changed as expected and try to maximize PX1, at which point you eventually have to kill the process and restart PX1.

I'd suggest filing a support ticket adding in your data here.

I have had this issue for years across 5, 6 or more versions with two separate rigs and 2 separate video cards (GTX 970 with the previous software & RTX 2070 Super XC Gaming with PX1).

PX1 will run fine on boot (I have GPU fan speeds and GPU Temp displayed in the taskbar on startup). After completely different amounts of time, could be 1 hour or 4 hours, it will stop updating. I can bring up the X1 software and the fan speeds will change and still be logging, but the shown GPU temp will be stuck at whatever value it was at when it stopped updating.

Looking in the logs, the card is working with the custom fan curves I have set. I get correct values there. Seems only to be that the display information, in the taskbar and application, stops updating. This only pertains to the GPU temp, fan speeds and CPU reads.

If I close down the application and restart it, it will then start working again for a certain amount of time.

I keep my NVIDIA drivers up to date constantly and update the app. I also make sure I run PX1 with Admin rights.

Been an issue now for about 4 years.

So I just got a Kingpin 3090 a couple days ago, and I have had this issue with the latest PX1 version (running as administrator).  It will eventually slowly lagging badly, to the point where normal computer tasks like using Explorer to browse local filesystem is jerky and slow.  Task manager shows PX1 using 10% or so of CPU but it is non-responsive.

Killing via task manager and relaunching (as admin) yields a working PX1 and fixes the computer lag, BUT....  The LED tab is gone, and the OLED settings for the Kingpin display are gone.  Only way to fix seems to be to shutdown completely and power back on.  Afterburner does not seem to have this issue, but obviously, it won't let me change/view LED and OLED screen settings.

EDIT: Running Win 10 Pro 21H1 on latest patches/updates.  Also edited the conditions to fix: it requires a full power down.  This leads me to believe the microcontroller is getting into a stuck state and not recovering.
