well, I was originally going to go with a 3060 TI for my wife's build, but ended up finding a really good deal on a 3070 FTW3 Ultra from Antonline...... my QUESTION is, I know the 3080s and the 3090s have some wicked power spikes that have caused some issues with standard wattage reccomended PSUs.... Is the 3070 FTW3 Ultra a massive hog on power like the 3080 and 3090??? I speced her system with an 850watt Corsair RMX series PSU as a bit of an overkill for the 3060TI, but just wanted some assurances that the 3070 Ultra wasn't going to cause issues or put me "on the line" with power spikes (this is going to be paired with a 5600x)

    The 850w is more then enough, a 3070 such as the FTW3 Utlra, when running at or near 100% load will spend most of its time pulling ~240-270w. If you wanted it to run cooler, you can just set it to 1800mhz and 825mv on the boost curve and from what I've observed with 20 different 3000 series, is that you should expect it to run around 160-180w like that.

    However the 850 is MORE then enough. I'm running my 3090 on one.

    Yeah, I haven't seen hardly anyone complain about their Corsair units failing using any of the 30xx series cards - so you should be great with that 850 W  & the 3070

    sounds good. I just wanted to be double and triple sure. I hadn't heard much about the 3070s having issues or having larger than expected peak usage so figured  I'd ask

    I have a 3070 FTW3 (ovrclkd @2050MHz), B450M Steel Legend, 5600x (over @4800MHz) with ML120L Water Cooler, 2x8GB 3600MHz, NVME, 3 x HD RAID0 => all powered by a Gigabyte N700H (700w 80 plus bronze) without a hitch. I use two separate cables/connectors from the PSU to the GPU.
