Is there anyway to roll back a bios to an older version ?
I was running 1.04 @ 5ghz prime stable updated to 1.07 and install M.2 drive.
Now my overclock will only kick in when i stress the cpu then after stressing it drops, right now as i type i check core temp my cpu speed is 797.85mhz

 

thats exacly what i want to do keep the overclock regardless of activity.
 
I have C State disabled in the bios cpu settings, i have avx ratio set to 0, i have EIST along with turbo made enabled but the cpu freq just drops i don't get it.
Before when i was running the older bios and O/S of my evo 850 ssd i had no problems.
 
Now i do and all i did was upgrade bios and install M.2.

C states are disabled & if i disable eist it will drop turbo mode and i wont be able to overclock :(

Ok update, have rolled back bios to 1.04 & still cpu freq drops.
I'm guessing it has to be M.2, gunna remove it tonight 're install Windows on my evo 850 ssd and see what happens :(

Not wanting to sound condescending but i'm a 51 yr young PC Repair engineer & have been building PC's since i was 18.
I also do understand the differences between demand under load & not. 
 
Maybe i just haven't explained my issue correctly.
Before i picked up the M.2 i had my O/S installed on SSD - i do understand that the M.2 should & probably has nothing to do with my issue thank you for clearing this up for me though .
However as i was saying before i started i had a 5 Ghz prime stable OC.
When in the O/S i could check either AIDA 64, Core temp & using task manager performance tab all showed my cpu running at 5 Ghz either while idle or under load, in the bios i had C States disabled however i had EIST enabled because it allowed the turbo function to be enabled and with this setup i was able to hit the 5 Ghz no problem.
 
Now with exactly the same settings on either 1.04 or 1.07 bios my cpu speed fluctuates.
So if i disable EIST and just use the single core multiplier i can still overclock manually ? if this is the case i'll try that, i just thought you needed EIST and turbo to overclock these puppies.

This i knew already but as it was suggested i tried again just now when i got in from work (Fixing idiot users ASUS freaking laptops) so this i don't need TBH.
The trouble is you cannot turn of EIST without it turning Turbo mode off. aswell, can someone with a z270 ftw k series MB please confirm this for me.
 
You can switch it the other way round I.E turn off turbo but leave EIST on.

What is the current overclock with those settings right now (with or without the M.2)?

Another thing i noticed also is in the memory section, when using XMP profile 1 suggested voltage is 1.35 but when i set XMP 1 profile the Ram voltage shows 1.387 ?

the Ram i'm using support XMP 2 profile however in my bios it reports that it's not supported.

Did you try changing windows power mode from balanced to high performance ?

Yup set both max & min to 100%, in fact i believe its still set that way as i haven't changed it back to default.

this is a fresh install on a sandisk 256Gb M.2 all windows updates installed ok, set the min & max windows processor power options this afternoon, came home for lunch and tested it so i know it's still the same.
 
Just checked to be doubly sure.

did you default your bios before amd after the bios update, sometime wonky things can happen if you dont. 

Ok so I just got home from work & thought I would have another look at this issue of mine that I don't have lol.
Disabled my M.2 & fresh & fully updated install of win10 pro on my Evo 850 SSD, checked task manager>performance & look what I can see.

So although I have no idea how the M.2 drive or the slot it's in could affect CPU freq in my case it has as can be seen in the pic also just to note my bios settings are all still the same as the previous bios pics I have uploaded.
