It is with sad and heavy heart that I have to report that my primary stats collecting box is dead. Kaput. Dust in the wind. I've moved the stats processing over to my other box, but am both frustrated as heck and depressed because we don't have the cash to replace this box at the moment. So, Just wanted to let you know that my stats service is temporarily going to be questionable while I try to figure this mess out. d

Bummer Dude. What do you need for hardware? I'm sure we've all got stuff laying around.

The problem is I don't know - No mobo beeps, but when I try to power it up the LEDs system wide are all flashing which generally means the motherboard, but I don't have another AM3 system to swap the CPU into to verify if that survived whatever happened. I would have LOVED to been able to upgrade to an AM4 as a result of this, but at the moment, finances just won't allow it. So, best educated guess is Motherboard, CPU and possibly PSU, but that's not as likely from my research. d

If you have a multimeter or voltmeter I recommend following this guide to test your PSU: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/how-we-test-psu,4042.html#p4 To test the motherboard further you can try rebuilding the system on a non-conductive surface (such as wood or cardboard) and try to boot up outside of the case to make sure that it is not a short circuit. Only install the CPU, one stick of memory, power supply and use the integrated graphics. In the case that none of this helps, you should remove the CPU, make sure there are no bent or missing pins.

I'll definitely see if I can borrow a multimeter to test the PSU and rip down the system to do the best I can for the individual testing - However, there's no integrated graphics on this one, so that'll be difficult. But, I do have a video card I was planning to sell that I can do the side by side testing with. Thanks! d

On the amd side I've only got Athlon 2 or Opteron gear, which won't help much. For basic psu testing, as I'm not so savvy on these things, my go to product is a basic Thermaltake Dr Power tester, which has saved me much head scratching in the past. Let us know how you get on ....

Thanks for the offer's I've gotten so far! I'll get the box open in the next day or two (time permitting, of course) and get the info I can and try to get testing to hopefully narrow things down. So, if I don't respond to a PM right away, I AM reading them, I just need to get the free time to dig into the issue a bit more deeply. d

I have an older PCI diagnostic board - DMAN POST PCI With +5, +12, -12 and Reset LEDs besides the POST code displays might make diagnostics faster If Reset is lit - it means Reset is active - this would indicate the CPU can not perform POST routines -- Usually indicates Reset circuity of MB is issue Not the CPU If you think you could use it, PM your address and I'll drop it in the mail. We are in the same time zone, so you should get it fast

I haven't fully tested the pins to find out WHAT died, but if I pull the 24pin and CPU plug from the mobo and jumper the green pin, the fan LEDS in the system still do the same rapid flickering. So, I took notfordman up on his offer of PSU and I'll swap that in to test if the mobo survived this.
I'll report back once I have more info, and am likely to do the above testing on the pins on the PSU because if I can, I'm curious to find out what broke. d

I'm always blown away by the awesome giving nature you guys show time and time again, and I'm even more flattered to benefit from it. Looks like I might not get the PSU until Monday, but I'm limping things along until then. Until then, I'll be enjoying some more Zelda and on Sunday, for the Mod Zoo Weekly Hangout, I'm interviewing Bill Owen about MNPCTech and the things he's personally done in the Case Modding hobby, so I ope you will 'tune in', 5pm Eastern TZ. https://t.co/QlhwIvfqfz

Catching back up on entries here, realizing I have a few questions to answer. The motherboard I have that could possibly be injured is an MSI AM3+ 970A-G43 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130679 SSD question was asked - I'm realizing that with the space that the backups of the stats I've collected so far, that I need to look at increasing the drive to a 256 gig or larger drive, but I'm not positive what size was in it at the moment. But, for reference, just the text files alone are pushing 21 gigs, and that's not going to go down. *laughs* As it is, I was very confused as to why I was unable to replicate some of my automated backup processes on my other rig, and lack of space is the reason. I can't just move things around without a retooling of my app (WHICH I do need to do, but I don't have the mental space at the moment), so I'm cheating with some command line magic to do the best I can. Remembering details that I SWORE to myself I was going to document YEARS ago (Yeah, of COURSE I was going to . . . ) has been fun. *laughs* bill1024 - I did get your pm, just hadn't had time to respond - I'm waiting for notfordman's psu to swap in to test before I go looking at replacing anything else. So, I'm currently stuck waiting. unable to find my multi-meter has made the thorough PSU testing a bit of a wait, but I can tell that there's at least SOME power coming out . . . Just not the RIGHT KIND apparently? But thank you all again for your support and with your help, I know I'll have things back to 'normal' soon.

Whatever happened, it happened to the mainboard. With the new PSU in hand, instead of the LEDs flickering in rapid fire until I turn off the switch on the PSU, there's a single flicker as the system tries to power up then nothing, but the power LED on the board stays lit.
Next stage is to try to find an AM3 or AM3+ board so I can swap parts into it, or, if I'm somehow lucky enough to find the funds, I kinda want to build a Ryzen system, but those are a bit pricey to match my current loadout (Would be building to replace my gaming rig with 64 gigs of ram, and that rig would become the media/stats box). But, I'm sick (which is why I'm home and doing this) and frustrated, so I'm gonna go fire up the Nintendo Switch instead of doing anything 'responsible' and just BE for a bit. d
