I can't get 4 cuda processors to be detected with SLI off, with SLI on four do but the work units are invalid plus nvidia driver restarts. be warned that nvidia's current policy is NOT to support Multiple Cuda Processors for desktop GPU's see this thread for more info

Archangelboy Running dual 295s, am I effectively using 3 GPUs for SLI and one for PhysX, or how is the workload being distributed? In SLI, PhysX runs on GPU 1 and the rendering is done across all 4 GPU's. This is why using dedicated PhysX card of similar power say a GTX 260 in your case, will give you better results in games using GPU PhysX. Batman AA is a good example. Thanks, Hemi- Those are some very useful links. I'm having trouble posting on the nVidia forums atm, but maybe I can get a question answered here. I'd like to run a GTS 250 in addition to my 2x295 setup, with a 1600W PSU I should be able to handle the voltage/amperage. Is it advisable to put a 250 in with the 2x295s or should I look at another card for PhysX support?

I am looking to buy 3 GTX 285 Classifieds and a GTX 295 CO-OP Superclocked GPU. If I install them on my X58 4 SLI Classified board, and assign the PhysX to the 295 CO OP, will it bog down my three SLI'd 285 Classifieds? Im new to this, this is my first PC project. Also does the X58 Classified MB have any way to install the Xeno gaming network card, and is there anyway to put a PCI 2.2 PPU on it The system that I am building is: Coolermaster HAF 932 EVGA X58 4 Way SLI Classified Board w/ N/S bridge and CPU waterblock Intel core I7 960 3.20 GHz B 7200 RPM HDD and 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD ed Cards and 1 GTX 295 CO-OP Superclocked Card w/ Waterblock Koolance KIT-1000BK Water Cooler Kit Win 7 Ultimate

It is a dual GPU card and regardless of the configuration. PhysX only runs on one GPU. A GTX 275 would be a better choice. The Xeno should work fine in any open PCIe slot. Lastly, a PCI PPU would be utterly pointless with GTX 285's with or without a dedicated PhysX processor.

Hi all I may not have something set up right and would like some help/advice. I have a GTX275 as primary, and a GTS260 as PhysX card. From what I've read, I'm supposed to go to the control panel and: To run NVIDIA Multi-GPU connected to a single display Note: To use this procedure, your system must have two or more NVIDIA GPUs connected to a single display. From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under 3D Settings, select Set Multi-GPU configuration to open the associated page. Click Enable multi-GPU mode. Click Apply. I don't see the "Select Multi-GPU Configuration" option. I only see "Set PhysX Configuration", in which I can choose to enable PhysX on either/both cards. I don't see any reference to any "Multi-GPU" settings at all in the menu tree. This is the first time I've had 2 GPU's in my computer, never having used SLI. I know what I'm doing isn't SLI, but is there something special I should be doing in regards to driver installation when 2 GPU's are in the computer? My monitor is connected to the 275. I did NOT use the bridge cable/connector connecting the 2 cards. I thought that was just for SLI. Should it be installed? Using 196.21 driver.

No you won't need the bridge, that is only for SLI... You also won't see the " Select the Multi-GPU Configuration", that is only for SLI too. (You would need to be running 2 of the same GPU's to even see that option, or a 295.) When you are on the ' Set multi-GPU and PhysX configuration' section, listed on the left hand side of the screen, and can select your 260 on the ' 1. Set PhysX GPU acceleration' drop down box, with the ' Enable on:' button selected, you are done. Your 275 will process graphics, and your 260 will process PhysX. This is how it would look if you were running SLI on a single 295, with a 280 selected to be your dedicated PhysX processor.

Thanks Talonman. Maybe I don't have a problem. But just to make sure I'm explaining it right and I understand you: My menu tree on the left does NOT say "Set multi-GPU and PhysX configuration" It ONLY says "Set PhysX configuration". This is because my two cards are NOT the same GPU. Under "Set PhysX configuration", I ONLY have option 1, in which I have " Enabled on: GeForce GTS 260" chosen. Option 2 "Select the multi-GPU configuration" is NOT shown. This is because my two cards are NOT the same GPU. Option 3 "Select the multi-GPU focus display" is NOT shown. I would assume this option is not shown because I only have 1 display. So in my setup, the driver automatically sets "multi-GPU mode" to enabled, and doesn't give me an option for enable/disable. Am I understanding you right?

Similar issues. 275GtX in top slot, 8800gt in x4 slot. I only have the option to completely disable, or enable on.... I disabled, applied, then enabled on 880gt, applied. however I get the impression that it is enabling on both. I dont know how to check to be certain. I run two displays, both pplugged into the 275. I have no option to select "focus display". Nowhere am I seeing an option for mult-gpu anything. Stats are in siggy. (plus the 8800gt) Is there a way to verify physx is on the 8800 and not the 275. Am I missing something somewhere? EDIT: Precision 1.9.1 is showing 0% usage on GPU2 in desktop, Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Pripyat. Ive tried enabling on 8800gt, the 275, and both. Identical results. Think I need some help...

PhysX only runs on one GPU. You should have the option to select either the GTX 275 or the 8800 to run PhysX. Precision does not show GPU usage for the 8800 series cards. It's a limitation of the application. COD MW2 doesn't use GPU PhysX nor does Call of Pripyat...So that isn't surprising you're not seeing any difference. You're not seeing 'multi-GPU set up' because you're not running SLI. The same issue for 'focus display': you're not running SLI. Lastly, as far as the issue of the PhysX card selection not showing both cards, I'd do a clean driver install. In other words, uninstall PhysX drivers, then the display drivers. Reboot in to safe mode and run driver sweeper. Reboot then install the driver of your choice.

The best benchmark I've found for testing PhysX is to fork over 10 bucks to Futuremark and get 3DMark Vantage. The #2 CPU test will test your system for PhysX. Use your Nvidia Control Panel to set up your PhysX configuration. With PhysX disabled Vantage will use your CPU for the PhysX test...etc...etc. My Test Results For The #2 CPU Test: PhysX Disabled.......18.8 Operations/s 8600GT Enabled.....55.82 " " GTX 260 Enabled....154.21 " " It would be fun to see others post their results here...

Ah, the 8800 gpu isnt monitored? Ok... that makes sense then. I checked the memory usage for GPU-2 instead (precision 191), and the ram is being utilized. I assume that means its working? Thanks for the info so far guys!

im running 2 gtx 285s in sli and a gtx 260 for physx(overkill, but it was laying around doing nothing anyway), vantage will crash when it gets to the 2nd cpu test, Darkvoid only will run lowest physyx setting, the message basically saying i need a 9800 gt or better....i used driver sweeper and reinstalled the newest drivers, so kind of lost as to what the issue is. edit: no crash this time when i ran just the cpu2 test, but only 29 op/s?

konidk im running 2 gtx 285s in sli and a gtx 260 for physx(overkill, but it was laying around doing nothing anyway), vantage will crash when it gets to the 2nd cpu test, Darkvoid only will run lowest physyx setting, the message basically saying i need a 9800 gt or better....i used driver sweeper and reinstalled the newest drivers, so kind of lost as to what the issue is. edit: no crash this time when i ran just the cpu2 test, but only 29 op/s? You might need to apply the 3DMark vantage hotfix if you haven't done so already. 27-29 op/s what I'm getting with a GTX260 for PhysX.

If I have 2 285 GTX cards should I just enable SLI and leave PhyX disabled? Should I have both enabled? What is the best way to configure 2 matching cards? I have no desire to use a 3rd graphics card at this time. Thanks for the advice in advance.

I'm in big trouble there :/ Gat a GTX275 Lightning and wanna go SLI with PhysX, but new owner of the EVGA GTX275 Co Op, I was expecting to get only 2 card for 3 GPUs... But on 3 OS and with 2 last Forceware I can't activate SLI mod, the 2nd 275 immediately runs for PhysX leaving the GTS250 to do nothing :( Is it becuse of a different amound of GDR3 on both card or what ? I have to mention that I tried on a P55 FTW (E657) board... thx

Place 275 CoOp as primary and other 275 as secondary and use SLI Bridge.

Umh I even tried this :/ ...no way I told lol !! well about 2nd statement the Co-Op is built with 1280MB if I remember ;) But yeah I think the problem is there. What makes me very sad cus I gat no use of this card though, I can use one of my few other G92 for PhysX with less power consumption...the Lightning is so much faster card aswell ...also the Co-Op is a quite nice card at all, a bit too hot and noisy I think, but seems to be a very strong built. I should exchange it to a friend for a 4890 Vapor-X ...no great SLI for me though, just a rough CF ^^ ...damned I'm frustrated :( Thank you both mates ;)
