I was just told by Parcelforce that I have to pay £180 in customs charges in order to be able to receive the replacement from EVGA..... very disappointed.... why? Also the whole process took exactly two months since I sent the card...

Great, this is exactly why I'm not sending mine for RMA until EVGA address this, I keep seeing abhorrent charges from customs on either side. Maybe if this is such a problem, they should re open the UK warranty fulfillment center they closed.

I even asked every courier to send it delivery duty paid for sending my faulty card and they all state they can't pre pay anything when they don't know how much the charges will be, and if the charges are £180 on top of the £80 we have to pay to ship the bloody card over in the first place then, thanks, we just lost over half of what we paid for the card just to get a replacement for a fault that's essentially down to EVGA.

They have the cheek to ask for us to pay delivery duties paid but then don't return the same courtesy for sending out a new one.

All I'm seeing is the bare minimum done by evga and the customers being left high and dry because of this.

I have received a lukewarm email from Evga saying they can provide more evidence of the parcel being Rma/warranty replacement so as to try and convince my local customs authorities to waiver the charge, although that doesn’t work. If I have to appeal the charge, I have to do it AFTER paying for it and receiving the parcel, because the customs authorities require the original packaging of the item too as supporting evidence.

Furthermore, my card has lost 2+ months of warranty, as, since I sent it on 2 March until today, it has been more than 2 months away from me travelling Europe and having a massive holiday at UK customs...

    I am very disappointed....

This is yet a other fear I have about sending mine out, they need to find a fix to this ASAP, I don't have a spare £250 to shell out on delivery and customs charges.

They need to arrange an alternative or, step up and make a solution, I swear I've send like 10 emails to EU customer services and still get the same answer over and over. Its hopeless.

Just had the very same conversation with ParceFarce. They have held my 3090 FTW for 2 weeks, was a Step up from a 3090 XC3 Ultra. Now they are saying I have to pay £350 in excise duty before it can be delivered. I explained to the ParcelFarce person it was a replacement item to which they said, You can claim the money back from HMRC by filling out a form B Blah blah blah and providing evidence of it being a replacment.
After this long a wait I am several annoyed at yet another problem and delay let alone a huge cost that I now have to try and reclaim back again.
very sorry state of affairs indeed.

    Hi Soccerkid,

we received the product at 3/29/2021 6:24:03 PM and shipped on 03/31/2021 - regarding the Tracking and Covid it took some time to get the package to you - regarding the customs clearance process, this was implemented by the politics and your origin country.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Has anyone thought to contact the IT press ? This seems to be a pretty big issue for EVGA, clearly they can argue its not their fault that Brexit happened, but it absolutely will hit their bottom line once news gets out that their warranty its basically worthless.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone in the UK buy an EVGA product at this moment, as the risk is too high that when an issue occurs the consumer is out of pocket.

Just want to say a thank you to EVGA, I have recieved my card today, I did have to pay the customs charges which I now have to try and claim back again, however good to their word EVGA did everything right, the customs paperwork was listed as RMA (warrentee replacment item) so there should never have been an issue or charges.
Speaking to the parcelforce guy when I collected it he had the claim form ready to go as this is happening all the time since the new Border Force process came into play.

If you are in a similar position then I wish you good luck as I really know how frustrating this can be, it took nearly a month to get my Step up card back in my hands.

RMA and purchasing are different - UK doesn't charge duties on warranty / replacement parts but doesn't have a system in place yet to actually deal with it.  Border control is just charging everyone and letting office staff figure it out through disputes.

I’d call customs and explain. They might have a dispute process.

Sorry to be captain obvious here, but yeah.  My thought exactly when I read the title of this thread.
Really hope you guys in the UK are seeing other benefits from the break and "being on your own", but so far all I have seen is a complete sheet show and cluster fudge.

Aside from being a completely useless waste of time response, it's not even strictly true is it?

EVGA have no control over customs charges, but they have complete control over how they mark up a shipment and whether or not they make it absolutely clear on the package that it is a warranty replacement product. Same as with any associated paperwork.

Considerations for that kind of thing are wholly within the remit of EVGA choosing to do business and make money in a given country. They don't have to do business in a country if, for example, they disagree with it's customs policies, taxation etc but they DO have to make good on guarantees and take proportionate, reasonable steps to ensure a satisfactory service to their customers.

And when was the last time that any person complaining to "the government" about customs charges known to have any effect whatsoever on that government's stance on customs charges?
