Public Service Announcement [PSA]

Win 10 system has Folding issue after monthly "maintenance reboot" - no updates were installed - [I reboot every 30 days]

So, Rig #2 in Signature has been chugging along acting a little strange as once in a while 1 of the two GPU would stop OC of GPU while Folding

Decided it was time for a simple reboot, set the Folding to "Finish" as they were going to finish within 20 min of each other.

I do my reboot and neither GPU will come off of base clocks & No Error messages in the Folding control panel - (MSI Afterburner 4.2.0)

Windows 10  Pro 64bit, Version 1511, OS Build 10586.753

Nvidia Driver 373.06 --- GPU driver & PhysX only

No Windows notice of loading anything ---> I use Metered Connection setting also

Nvidia control & Windows set to Max performance -- Check

Three separate security product all say the system is clean

Figured might as well reload my drivers

So, offline, kill all background software (security stuff and all), DDU in safe mode, remove old driver & run the Kill Nvidia Experience all with DDU

Then after reboot, kill all background software again and do a fresh install of Nvidia 373.06 driver  -- Custom, GPU driver & PhysX only

Set Nvidia control to Max performance & confirm Windows set to Max performance

Reboot again, then after Windows loads ---> then I connect the network cable

Start Folding Advanced window & MSI Afterburner ---> Back to Full Power

Not sure why Nvidia driver was "corrupted" on reboot

I do know:
 - Win 10 Did NOT change the Nvidia driver & gave no indication of loading any software or drivers

 - Rig is on a UPS - not a power issue, HD is a SSD no issue with it .....

Bottom line:  DDU  then reinstall Nvidia drivers, Set Nvidia Control panel to Performance ---> back at Full Power

For anyone who wonders - Nibbler [my Big Dog Folding Monster] is Win 10 and uses Precision X OC 6.0.6 and has not shown any issues

FYI - Ive learned to restart XOC every week or it will eventually crash on a 24x7 Rig,

- I also close the Folding Control panel once a week and restart it without stopping Folding or closing the Folding Clients - seems to help

That is quite strange CoolGTX. At least you got it handled....  Stopping the client, then restarting it, will it usually pick up the same WU?? Thanks for the info dude!

My big killer from the updates are Black Screen of Death after a forced graphics driver install while Folding.
I have to dump the WU and reset the computer to get my screen back. Part of why I removed my SLI Bridges.

    OK... strange as it seems,

One of my Windows 7 Pro machines now seems to be running better after DDU, clean reinstall of Nvidia drivers

X99 MB, 3 - 1080 Ti class GPU ---> saw improved PPD and stability of Precision XOC after reinstall

The only thing that I can think of is the MS security or .NET patches must have caused issues last month ?

I did go back to 2.04 from 2.05 because my X99 Classified started to reboot for no reason.
