EVGA peeps,

What are the differences between the PS1000 and P21000? I am going to be switching over from a very old and very very noisy PC Power & Cooling T12w 1000w. My rig is very high end and I want to buy the best PSU to feed my kit. As far as I can tell these are basically the same PSU aside from the fact that the PS is supposedly quieter. Am I correct or are there other differences I am missing? Quiet is good, but my rig is in no way quiet when all 8 case fans spin up, not counting the GPU fans.

I do know one thing though, my current PSU is the very noticeably louder then the rest of the rig. That PCP&C T12w has lived a long and exciting life, but it's time for it to go. My rig runs 24/7.

P2 1000 has:
larger 140mm fan - with ball bearings
3 more years of warranty
currently on sale on EVGA for only $10 more than the PS1000
6 GPU and 2 dedicated CPU

PS1000
Fan - 135mm Teflon Nano-Steel Bearing

Ok, so in all honesty here what do you guys think. Is it worth spending the extra caps (I'm currently playing FO4) on the P2 or should I get a G3 instead? 4% efficiency isn't that big of a deal to me if all we are talking about here is better binned components. As is my MO I expect that I will go 3-way SLI with the 1080's in the future.

Personally, I would purchase the new G3 for the size. Even though the efficiency is slightly lower than the P2.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Also would open the option to get the 1,300w since this rig is pretty power hungry.

1000 P2 is better option.

The G3 size does nothing for you while the P2 better efficiency saves you $$.

I would go with the P2. Also you can not officially 3-Way SLI 1080's.

The point is quality. This T12W was best in the market when I bought it and it's been powering my gaming rigs for years now.

The question is replacing a 1,200w with a 1000w a good idea. I took the EVGA PSU survey and it suggested a 1,200. However, my UPS reads way under 1,000w while the machine is at full load. What to believe?

You can 3-way, you just have to get a "code" from Nvidia to unlock support. I've run 3-way ever since the days of the 8800GTX and have a close relationship with a few people there.

I wouldn't want to run the PSU at 100% load all the time, that would leave me no room to add extra fans etc to the system.

Re: PS 1000 Vs. P2 1000 2017/03/10 01:18:06 (permalink)
I have EVGA 1200 P2 with EVGA Cable Set Black and fan is always disabled.
When I clean PC for few days I will post pictures of PSU with sleeve cables.
I think 1200 P2 is best quality-power-performance-price ratio on market.

Inside package is nice bag for PSU and special bag for cables, I keep rest of Sleeve Cables and fabric cables inside.
This type of PSU will be used for PC minimum 10 years at least, if they change something that would be efficiency and nothing more.
And now is very hard to achive better efficiency, they measure 2-3% as new class.

Now every new model of PSU when show up you need first to wait reliable reviews and customer experience, that's months of waiting.
With 1200 P2 everything is clear, confirmed, customers love him, score 10/10, all cables are black if someone look on details.

Other manufacturer as CM as 1000$ for some PSU with software and other things...
EVGA first had idea for controlled PSU with software, for 1000$ they could give to Enermax build best platform they can or Delta.
The worse thing is when good PSU is broken because some minor problem and you can't use him any more and platform is still operational.
Sleeve Cables are excellent as well and could be used for many different models with different strength. I have full set, for 10 HDDs, motherboard with 8+8 pin CPU, only need few cables for 4 Way SLI maybe.

Single Sleeve Cable Set could be used for 2 different computers in normal condition, except 24pin cable, he is only one.
But there is enough cables for 2 PC with 2 graphic cards, example 1080 SLI in both computers.

I also have the 1200 P2 and love it! My past builds were Corsair HX or AX units.
