UPS came with the TitanX , got moo up and running on it.
It is a single card on an ASUS P9x79 WS with 1050w PSU so there should be no issue.
I have a H90 AIO to install on the titan with the bracket made for that, bracket will be here soon.
Going to pull one of the GTX908Ti out and see if it runs ok on its own.

I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize moo did gpu crunching. My points were waylaid by my active folding. Was wondering why my ppd was down this month. Fixed now that I finished up my folding work units. Should pick up steam now.

Re: POTM - April 2017 - Moo! Wrapper - April 24-28 2017/04/27 15:04:32 (permalink)
Moo! Wrapper is no more than a way to link the distributed.net project to BOINC - so looking at RC5-72 statistics will give you viable info on what card is faster.
Unfortunately, the "speeds" page on the distributed.net page hasn't been updated with anything reasonably current in quite a while.

RC5-72 work is VERY simplistic - nothing but barrel rotates, adds, and such - it does not use floating point AT ALL, and the memory footprint is TINY (the operational code from the client AND the data it's manipulating routinely fit entirely into the CACHE of even old model CPUs like the AMD K5 series).
This has traditionally given AMD GPUs a significant advantage over NVidia GPUs since the AMD cards are a tossup on keyrate processed per MHz per "core" (in recent client versions) but AMD cards traditionally have more "cores" at any given price point, usually by a wide margin.

For AMD, a "shader" = a "core", for NVidia a "CUDA unit" = a "core".

For a specific comparison - the AMD RX 470 and the Nvidia GTX 1070 are both capable of appx. 4 gigakeys / second - despite the 470 being less than HALF the price.
I believe the AMD Fury X and Nano are capable of appx. 6.3 Gigakeys/sec at reference clock speed but I've never had one of those to test with.
When the AMD Vega card show up they likely will have the first card capable of 10+ Gigakeys/sec keyrate - depends on how much faster they are on clock speed over the older Fury X / Nano.

This is one of the very few BOINC projects that the GPU in an AMD APU works well in - the A10-5700 (384 cores) manages over 400 Megakeys/sec, the recent A10-78xx (512 cores) around 600 Megakeys/sec.
As another comparison, the keyrate out of the A10-78xx GPU is pretty much identical (if clocked to 800 Mhz) to the keyrate out of an AMD HD 7750 (also 512 cores, 800 Mhz default clock, MUCH faster memory but memory speed DOES NOT MATTER to dnet RC5-72 work to any measurable degree).

If you look at the work packets, the last part that is often something like "12-768" is an expression of the number of DNet work packets and DNet "blocks" in that Moo work packet.
If you crunch the numbers, appx. 50kilokeys/sec equates out to 1 block completed per day, or about 1/3d of a BOINC credit per day or about 7.5ish RAC after a month or so - so that RX 470 or GTX 1070 are both going to put a machine at about 80k blocks per day or 600k ballpark RAC once RAC flattens out after a month or so.

Not sure why my screen name here is what it is (edit - got it changed yay!) - I'm better known as  AKA one of your major Team Gridcoin competition on BOINC (waves to bcavenah), and I'm also a sometime Team Curecoin major producer in . I've also been active in the Distributed.net project for about 2 decades now - I was one of the folks that helped with the last couple of the DES Challenges....

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

New puppies?

If it turns out to be the power supply, let me know. I have options for your consideration.

Thank you Yodap and Nxt for the offer of Help,
Quick check of PSU with POST Jumper (paper clip) since I cannot find 1 of probably 10 connectors I have................PSU gave up the ghost, no burnt smell, power cord changed out, used different outlet- swapped receptacles and nothing.  Will cannibalize another system PSU tomorrow if I have time and get the rig up and running or just build the Z97............decisions decisions..............

Done PSU and back to Folding. Thanks for the fun.........

I am sorry guys, I had terrible luck getting project to run.
I tried several systems with Nvidia, not a lot of luck keeping them running.
Tried my AMD R9-280X and it seems to be ok, until I checked on it and it too would down clock the GPU to below stock.
Once it even hard locked my computer, I had to turn off the PSU, hit power button and try again before it would even post.
These systems have no problem with GPUgrid, folding, any PG subproject, setti or Collatz.
I don't get it.
Oh well. On to the next.
I have WCG running well any way. WOOT

Sorry for all the troubles Bill, even a small about can make a difference at a team level event.
What Project on WGC are you running?
I am pushing hard on Smash Childhood Cancer ATM on WCG for this current Sprint.
Dropped down to 8 ATM, IBM is the strong hold but also who runs WCG.
Folding All my GPU tonight with most likely our last snow of the year.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...6 to 12 inches. The heaviest amounts will
likely be in the southern part of the Denver metro area.

Getting warm here, was 83 or so today, same for tomorrow too.
No more snow here I hope. had enough of Winter and I sure am ready for Spring.

Thank you everybody for the partecipation at the POTM.

Howdy2u2 I'm sorry for your PSU. I think that the 100 posts needed for the Elite membership didn't help with the useless overposting in the forum. I'm sure that the Team will notice that you will not be here!

One of my PC gave up too and I have to find a "new" used z77 mobo for my 3570k.

I'm sorry for your problem too bill1024, my 280x is doing very well in this project with a RAC of over 300k PPD while the 980ti can barely hit 240K

Good work team!  Just finished off my last moo task, switching my GPUs to folding for a bit before the heat kicks in and I have to start shutting systems down.

Remember that you can Abort BOIC Tasks and they will be given out to someone else.
This is NOT the same with Folding WU.

yup!  I usually don't unless there's a good reason.  Recently I've set boinc to keep 0.01 days of work so it really only downloads a new task when its within a few minutes of finishing the current one.  And I honestly forgot to switch it to other work.  No biggie since its still contributing to something for me =D.

0.01 day and 0.00 day is what I use to change projects often as I do.
For GPUGRID I use 1.00 day and 1.00 day or I never get tasks.

Grr, I no sooner start blowing you away on Moo/DNet then you start beating me up on Folding.

Oh well, parts for my next folding rig should arrive next week, another 2M+ or so / 24 hours should happen by early June - complicated a bit by my move to a new place next month with MORE POWER!

Muahahaha no more "power availability limited" for a long time!

 9-)

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
