The individual battle for first place is very, very close, as is the team battle for third place. Due to the nature of this particular challenge, modern CPUs don't have the advantage they normally do, so both old and AMD CPUs can compete on a relatively level playing ground. It looks like people have been putting everything they've got into this challenge!

With less than one day remaining in the challenge, it's time for our public service announcement about being a good netizen as the challenge is completed...

At the Conclusion of the Challenge

We would prefer users "moving on" to finish those tasks they have downloaded, if not then please ABORT the WU's (and then UPDATE the PrimeGrid project) instead of DETACHING, RESETTING, or PAUSING.

ABORTING WU's allows them to be recycled immediately; thus a much faster "clean up" to the end of a Challenge. DETACHING, RESETTING, and PAUSING WU's causes them to remain in limbo until they EXPIRE. Therefore, we must wait until WU's expire to send them out to be completed. Thank you!

I knew being 3 hours late would hurt.
I fell asleep trying to stay up to 7AM. Just rested my eyes for a moment and boom, it was 10AM.

Good job everyone, it's almost over, just over 12 more hours left

I knew being 3 hours late would hurt.
I fell asleep trying to stay up to 7AM. Just rested my eyes for a moment and boom, it was 10AM.

Good job everyone, it's almost over, just over 12 more hours left

You can set the Downloads to 0 and 0 and it will only download what you can run and may 1 extra.
You should have taken me over by now as well!!!
Our Team Did Keep our 5th Place and I think we shell do the same in the last Challenge of 2017 in December.
I did power up All my GPUs this time around and I have not done this in a few years.
All on Custom Water Loop but two with Hybrids Coolers Installed.
What I ran this time around.
2 Titans
4 GTX 980 HC
2 GTX 1080
5 GTX 1080 Ti
2 Tasks Per GPU for a total of 26 Tasks running.

Till Next Month.

Oh, and Cold Weather was on my side this time.

That is some serious horsepower bcavnaugh..

Just got a very nice email. Yay

Nice contest, team!  We comfortably took 5th place.  One more PG challenge this year coming up December 18-21st.  It's PPS-Sieve which is GPU-friendly, so keep those cards warm!

If anyone was using CPUs for this challenge, please bring them over to WCG as we are not doing too well.  Currently only 24th but with potential to move up to 19th or so with a last-minute push.

I have every available cpu running WCG.

Thanks Punchy

I would like to ask a question regarding my laptop. It is a Dell with an I7 cpu and an SSD I swapped for the spinner. The problem is now out of the blue it will show a screen saver and then shut down. It has never done this before and I selected never on all the power settings. It is running 64bit Windows 10.
Any ideas??  Help!!
It is not overheating.

I have had the same issue, the screen saver fails to load properly,
I disabled the screen saver and had no further issues..

Just added 120 Cores to WCG here..

Thanks HK Steve I will give that a shot. Not sure why the screen saver just started working - my wife does not get near my laptop.

Congratulations on the gfn17 prime, they are large primes.
So it will stay in the book of the largest 5000 primes for quite a while before being pushed out.

Good job everyone.

I started moving over to WCG early last night when I was sure 5th was locked in.
Had to shut down some GPUs also, how was warm, too warm.

Life is too short to carry a cheap pocket knife
