P2 sata power cables?

So long story short, gonna need a lot more sata connections and I've read that the sata and perif on the psu is interchangeable (for EVGA at least).

But now I'm not sure where I can get another 6 pin to a 3 or 4x15, whether just a random one would work or if it has to be oem EVGA cables, in which case would I just be able to use one from my friends EVGA psu even if they're different units? Mine is a 850 supernova P2, his (I believe) is a 750 supernova G3.

Seen mixed responses outside this forum and haven't been able to find a related thread here. (Cruising on forums with mobile isn't a fun task so that's why a pc is finally being built lmao).

Apologies on this post if there are many already exactly like it, my search skills here are less than average lol

    Using a sata cable from a G3 psu on your P2 is fine.

    Cables are compatible between 1300 watt and under G2/G3/G5/G+/P2/PQ/T2 models.
     
    So yeah, you can use the cable(s) from your friend's PSU if you want to.
