To the surprise of not me, Star Wars Squadrons does NOT tax the 3090 at all at 4K settings manually set to max (there's one that isn't maxed with the all settings slider) - 180 to 230 FPS from what I'm seeing without Vsync. Locking it to 60 with Vsync and I see 1400 to 1755Mhz at 33 to 40% or so GPU usage. Had to download a firmware update (it's been awhile) for my Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 - time to get some pew pew pew, pew pew pew on!

From what I saw, it isn't graphically amazing anyway, and I hear it runs crazy well even in VR on max settings. Of course, ships blow up in weird clunky geometric shapes that remind me of the Nintendo 64... I actually laughed so hard that it hurt.

That, along with a terrible SP and the fact that people are actually CAMPING with mobile ships lodged against rocks or stations in a damn dog fighting game made me refund the game.

AH well, the money can go into Baldur's Gate 3 Tuesday.

Yeah, so fantastic it's sitting at a sliiiiiiick 57% on Steam. Definitely game of the year material right there mate, undoubtedly. I have no idea what every other game is going to do with itself after everyone forgets Squadrons even exists in a couple of weeks.

To each their own. Please stay somewhat on topic of 30 series performance/getting one of these cards, please.

Sure. The performance of the 30xx series is fantastic in Squadrons, especially in VR, but the game isn't at all that graphically demanding anyway because it doesn't look that great. Still, I think that the card will be excellent for pushing the new VR headsets coming out at the end of this year and next year, though again we really haven't seen many games being announced that might really take advantage of things on that front, and outside of Alyx this year has been a real dud for high quality VR. I also guess getting 230 FPS on 4k really isn't much of surprise - going to take a while before we see any games that can really push the 3080 that aren't just meme benchmarks or the lazy ASMR that running Doom as a benchmark is. Maybe Cyberpunk 2077. Then again, maybe 4k will stay viable from ever more now and things will just get better and better.

It was cold this morning, so loaded up the 480W VBIOS again and did some more Port Royal - 14,198 (so close to 14.2 but didn't get it!) https://www.3dmark.com/pr/356777

Almost hit 2000 MHz average on the GPU. Man, I need an AiO bracket that works for this card!

Edit: Found that 3080 Ln2 run that Gamer's Nexus did a bit ago - and I spanked 'em even with their 2340 MHz core!

Man, I can't believe I'm only 0.5% faster than the top Ln2 cooled 3080 @2430MHz Port Royal score on my air cooled 3090 FTW3! The 3090 is so slow... (sarcasm off)

Having problems with G-Sync on my LG CX at 4K 120Hz. Going to see if those beta drivers help later today.
Edit: the firmware listed on Reddit worked fine for my 65" LG CX - going to test it out. I looked at the Korean website first, used the translate to English option that Chrome had, and looked up the firmware myself. It did list the 65 and 77" TVs. Apparently this won't work for EU TV versions though.

Have you tried the built in OC scanner function? How does that work?

Also can you try Metro Exodus? I find with RTX Ultra Metro Exodus tax the system harder than Port Royal stress test looping. I would crash around 20~30 mins in game with same OC settings that can pass PR stress test with 99.7% stability.

Yes, but I don't use it. For benchmarking, the voltage curve from PX1's OC scanner (or a manual one in Afterburner) wasn't quite as good as my manual OC. For games, I run a more conservative overclock until I can get an AiO solution.

I did try Exodus, but I was at a save where a worm pops up from the sewers and kills me every time - no matter how fast I mash the E key. I got ticked off after the 5th time, and gave up on it.

Launch day Watch Dogs Legions benchmark on the 456.98 Hotfix drivers (not even the latest one released for Legions):

Literally maxed @4K no DLSS w/ HD texture pack (motion blur off, as always):

Literally maxed @4K with DLSS set to Quality w/ HD texture pack (I can't tell the difference, other than FPS - & motion blur off):

My gaming OC is now +100/+600 - just a little bump over what I used to run. This game benchmark saw 1900 to 1920Mhz.
