I had a 2080ti ftw3 ultra with coil whine. I RMAed(not for coil whine) it and got one back with worse coil whine.

First card was a 2080 ti XC2 Ultra, no coil whine.  I returned it only because I wanted to pick up an FTW3 Hybrid, which works great.  No coil whine on this new card, either.

I had that issue with a GTX280 in tri sli and the power supply change out solved my issue.    Went with a Corsair AX1200 at the time.

I load up a bench I know will load the card. I ran FC5, Superposition, and realbench. Then I put my head right down next to the case. I tested both of may cards individually before I hook them up for NVlink to get an idea of which one I want as the primary GPU for non-SLI titles.

Well in that case I don't have whining either. The thing is why I asked the question, is because in around 80 % of the cases I had, coil whining started at a specific fps amount and also depending on what game/benchmark. Some cards don't have it at all and some have it even in low fps cases.
My 1080 Ti's I frist had from Asus had it already starting at low fps like 60/70ish, back then I used a Soundcard which transfered the interferences to the headphones. I've then bought two 1080Ti from EVGA, which had non coil whine at all, well at least not untill like 300 fps mark, which is not a real use scenario. This happens like with every generation.
But like with the 1080 Ti's from Asus, thats a rare case for me, usually it's like I said at a specific fps threshold the whining begins.

For me I will keep both of my 2080 Ti's, whining is only after 160 fps, and I only need a maximum of 144.

Would be interesting of others share their fps at which they experience coil whining.

That's why the FC5 bench is nice. The FPS in that is all over the place low to high. I have G-Sync enabled so I cap out at 144fps. So using your thought (good one at that), from 0-144fps I have no whine.

Just got my 2080 TI XC Ultra yesterday.
The card has a large coil whine, especially during high fps (higher than 100fps) or machine learning task.

Plan to RMA it.

I usually get some coil whine once I'm in the 100-144 FPS range otherwise it's pretty silent, I should note on a RTX 2080 Ti Black.

I had gnarly coil whine when I first hooked it up and when I would alt+tab within a game but it burned itself out. Now I have none.
Edit: I have a 2080 FTW3 Ultra.

Po0ns
2080ti Black - Rma'd with severe coil whine and crashes.

Same thing is happening with my still trying to figure out if it's the 2080 ti or the BPX NVMe SSD. I even get BSOD saying Watchdog Violation. I just updated my motherboards BIOS and see if that helps.

If you use my code let me know so i can thank you via pm.

How long does it take to burn it? And are you burning it using benchmark or just games?
Thanks!
