Hey guys I have 4 x 4TB drives in RAID 5 (ST4000DM000) and get very slow write speeds (1MB/s-10MB/s)  - I have write back caching turned on and it doesn't seem to help much... reads seem to be OK but writes are absolutely terrible. Any thoughts? Thx

Have you tried running with cache disabled? I know it sounds weird and furthermore you have HDDs not SSDs, but with RAID cards there are sometimes instances where running cache enabled affect performance in a very negative way. Its mainly related to SSDs, but still worth a try.

Frankly I've never run such massive array with on-board pseudo-RAID and certainly not RAID5.
