Curious to see how many PCIE lanes we get with the next HEDT i9 and if it has the built-in hardware protections against Spectre/Meltdown, avoiding the reported performance losses that come with microcode patches for processors already released.  I came close to upgrading to the X299 Dark last fall.  I want to upgrade and stick with a platform for quite a while -- just too much goofiness going on with Intel's latest HEDT lineup for me to make that leap.

Whether or not it's HEDT, it's going to be quicker than my i7 920 released in Q1 2010.  I'd like to go Intel HEDT if I can without breaking the bank and processing power I can use (vs won't use).

My 360 monsta radiator predates my entire system, the rest of it is new tech except for the SSDs.

Which computer?

The oldest machine I had as of 3 months ago was based on an AMD K5, and the other parts were the SAME vintage in it - late 1990s - but I finally retired it permanently just recently.
The oldest things I still have NOW a pair of Athlon Palomino (1800XP or some such I think) based systems from the early 2000s - and while one of those is still operational (Windows 2k based) I'm probably going to piece out and retire THEM shortly (the cases are reusable, the rest of the parts except PERHAPS the one working HD are not worth messing with).

2 years ago I still had at least one 386SX + motherboard + ram sitting around, but it didn't make the cut when I was packing up stuff to move from Iowa TO Washington State (nor did any of the '486 based gear or the pair of Pentium Pro MB/CPU sets I had or MOST of my ballpark DOZEN K5 based systems - only 3 of THOSE made the cut, and that was 'cause they were the right size to "fill a hole" when I was packing).

If we're counting peripherals, it would be one of the IBM AT 101 keyboards (REAL IBM with the buckling spring design, not the cheap Lexmark knockoffs) among working parts and the single non-working original IBM AT (84 key) keyboard I keep around as "spare parts" for the 101 models. The 84-key is closing on 30 years that I've owned it, the 101s range from 20ish to 25+ depending on which one.

Is that Seagate a 225 or one of the full-height models? I'd have to see it to believe it's still working, though at least those drives didn't usually get "stiction" like the ST251 did.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Lucky - IME hard drives have usually been the FIRST parts to die (well, fans sometimes in recent years with the widespread usage of sleeve bearing and "fancy name" sleeve bearing junk).

Mouse Razor Mamba. Had it for 9 years. Had to make it wired permanently though. It looks like absolute hell - I think I'll rub a hole through it soon. But it still works flawlessly.

Blackbird 002 case and Logitech G51 speakers, both are just over 10 yrs old. Speakers still work good and can't seem to find a comparable case with newer features to replace the old bird.

My power supply bought March 2010 Corsair TX 950 watt as i switched to Ryzen and it am playing with my 290x as it is still on it's shipped bios and voltage but i raised the clocks as shown in 3DMark Fire strike .. it's about gpu score as much more does Hawaii have with more voltage as it loves Ryzen as that is above 980GTX now for FS score.
