It was kinda a bad review. At least show dlss with 8k. He was very hung up on nvidia marketing and trying to stick it to the man and the actual review took forever to start

I'm really not opposed to using DLSS to reach 4k 120-144hz range, so native res 8k doesn't really hold a place in my personal decision making for the big deal that was made out of it (although understandably so)

Yes it was awesome.. but the end of the day a high end consumer will want the best and the 3090 is it.

Makes the 3000 series more do able then the 3080 coming from a Ftw3 Ultra/Kingpin 2080ti.

    Price hurts it though.

Sure after water cooling and a high end ftw3/Kingpin with higher power limit it will be way worthy and the only direction I'd go.

Guessing I'll be dam lucky to see one in April/May though hehe.

    Agreed!

I will still be going for it so I can ignore the GPU market for another 2 years lol. Gotta get my HDMI 2.1 fix somewhere and this will have to do.

Hehe. Love the video. I'm leaning toward not getting the 3090 anymore. Sad part is it has nothing to do with performance ratios vs price. It just this whole process has been tiresome. It should not be this hard to spend money, never had trouble spending till now lol.

I like him and his thoroughness and commitment. but this was one of his worst reviews to date...  He needs to get some sleep and reset his mind and approach it without the bias...  it's missing a lot of critical benchmarks (DLSS) and it's trying to fight the marketing while loosing sight of it still being the hands-down fastest card.. no one said it was going to be a great value over the 3080.

The 3090 should be fairly effective for 4K gaming in 90-120hz gsync.

It isn't just that you get such small gains around 5-15%, but the fact that overclocking causes almost no increase whatsoever. I wonder how many people that game at 1440p bought this card thinking it would be faster for more than double the price.

I plan to use mine with Blender if I can ever get one and game only in 4k and VR. It makes me wonder though if the 3080 20GB would render the 3090 obsolete ish. Maybe there is still hope for the 3090 Kingpin?

i loved the video, i hope that further support down the line helps differentiate the performance and like Linus replied to GN's tweet, just adding the drivers for productivity that are missing vs the previous gen titan would help a lot with its niche use.

I liked this review over the other "influencers" quite a bit. If you watched the entire thing he did a very detailed analysis of benchmarks at resolutions at 1080p all the way to 8k. Calling out Nvidia's marketing BS was fine and I had no problem with it. The 3090 is not an 8K gaming card. It's a card that can do upscaled 8K in certain cherry picked games using Nvidia's DLSS. At the end of the day, those who want the very best will buy this card, the same as those who bought the RTX Titan.

Ah...edgy. Steve with his many years reviewing hardware has developed credibility. Influencers are flash in the pan noobs. That doesn't mean he cannot be wrong. But it is a bit like comparing Cronkite with Bevis.

I just want a new card. I don't care if its a 3080 or 3090 at this point. I absolutely don't need a 3090, but I would take the opportunity if it presented itself.

I just started watching Steve's stuff about a month ago because of his AIO cooler reviews and snagged a Arctic freezer 280. He seems super awesome. The 3090 had me laughing all the way to work.

I agree with everything he said honestly. The review is maybe a bit harsh but it's accurate. The card just isn't worth the money for this imaginary 8K gaming yet.
I have the money to buy it, but refuse to do it. Nvidia dropped the ball on the 3090 in my opinion.

Not knocking anyone that wants a 3090 because I get it but for my use cases it'd be driving a tack with a very expensive sledgehammer.
