Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti appears in shipping - 12GB RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 3X Spotted | OC3D News (overclock3d.net)

Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti graphics card has been spotted in transit, heading towards the USA with MSI branding. Amongst these boxes are GT 710, Radeon RX 580, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 boxes, though the most notable box is the one that's labelled as MSI's unreleased Geforce RTX 3080 Ti Ventus 3X 12GB OC graphics card. This label confirms that Nvidia's planned RTX 3080 Ti graphics card contains 12GB of GDDR6X memory, matching the already-leaked specifications of their RTX 3080 Ti graphics card. This change should give Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti 20% more memory capacity and bandwidth than their RTX 3080, which is a considerable upgrade for the graphics card.

Nvidia's rumoured RTX 3080 Ti will reportedly feature the company's Ethereum cryptocurrency mining lock and 12GB of 19Gbps GDDR6X memory. Recent rumours have also suggested that the graphics card will feature 10240 CUDA cores, placing the GPU 256 CUDA cores behind the RTX 3090. Older rumours suggested that Nvidia planned to use 20GB of memory over a 320-bit memory bus, but now it looks like Nvidia may be planning a 12GB GPU that users a 384-bit memory bus. One configuration has 8GB of additional memory capacity, while the other offers gamers 20% more memory bandwidth. Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti reportedly uses 19Gbps GDDR6X memory, the same memory speeds as today's RTX 3080.

With GDDR6X memory over a 384-bit memory bus, the RTX 3080 Ti would be an Ethereum mining monster. That said, Nvidia's Ethereum cryptomining lock will make the graphics card a lot less viable as a mining product. With the launch of the RTX 3080 Ti, Nvidia will claim, once again, that Geforce is for Gamers, though it is likely that mining alternative cryptocurrencies will remain profitable. Also, it is possible that Nvidia's cryptocurrency mining lock could be bypassed again...

With a rumoured $999 price tag, Nvidia's RTX 3080 Ti targets AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card. If the GPU's rumoured specifications are correct, this graphics card will perform on-par with an RTX 3090, falling behind by a few percentage points thanks to the GPU's 256 fewer CUDA cores and slightly slower GDDR6X memory.

Well it looks like this picture confirms the rumors.

That price tag is crazy. I thought my $730 780 Ti SC w/ ACX was pricey... AIB cards will be $1200+ with MSI and ASUS probably more like $1500+.

After the botched limiter on the 3060, I'd wager miners will be all over this launch. Even if they can't get it unlocked, continued shortages will probably make it profitable regardless.

even at 1/2 hash it will makes $6-7 a day(you can make more im doing almost $14  a day on 3090 right now) Thats about $190 for $15 of electric
$180 a month for 6 months is about $1100 - definitely pays for itself

    PS:using CAN$

and best $$ figure a day is been over $20 a card a day - ive seen $50+  one week on 1 card i made $400 - ie thats about $60/day

to give you an idea ive made about $2k in 2 months on 2 cards basically pay off two 3090's in 5 months

    So true, I

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

I agree that 12GB is quite disappointing when AMD is packing 16GB. Maybe Nvidia is saving higher memory variants for another refresh. I mean let’s face it. Neither company has any need to release a new chip when the demand is so high for the existing ones.

12GB is the best option actually. (other than 24GB)

    the normal 3080 is using 10x 1GB modules = 320bit bus

    12GB = 12x 1GB modules = 384bit bus

16GB would be forced to have 8x 2GB modules with only 256bit bus, less than a 3080.
14GB doesn't even make sense. there is no 14 module configuration, and using 7x 2GB would be equally stupid.

I wonder whether these shipments and silence indicates that Nvidia is trying to get partners to build up stock this time around.
