GeForce Hotfix display driver version 456.71 is based on our latest Game Ready Driver 456.55. The hotfix addresses the following issues: - Launching a game in full screen mode may trigger a black screen on adaptive sync monitors if G-SYNC is enabled
- [Fortnite] Game may experience crash when using in-game RTX Shadows/Reflection
- [Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition] Enabling Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling results in lower frame rate

I can confirm this driver does nothing for the black screen issue when playing games in full screen on an OLED CX 48" I still can't play many games with the 3090 and this monitor in fullscreen.

I take it you don't have the CX beta firmware to fix G-Sync issues? Apparently this one isn't for EU models, and it looks to be for the smaller model only https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/j23xf4/cx_firmware_update_out_tested_and_fixes_chroma/ I've not tried it since I have the 65" CX, and the instructions point at the model number (even if I cannot read Korean). EDIT: I went to the Korean website and actually looked it up with Translate to English on - apparently the 65" CX is listed, so I will give it a shot. Edit: successfully installed on my 65" CX - no black screen flickering yet at 4K 120Hz RGB 10 bit w/G-Sync enabled like I had previously.

I've had every generation of Nvidia cards and I can't recall having so many issues between hardware upgrades. I feel like it was always just install and go... out of about 20 games that worked perfect on my 2080 Ti, I think only 3 actually work on the 3090, about 10 work in some compromised way, and half a dozen don't work at all.

Well that sucks. Are you sure your HDMI cable is good enough? I've read that a lot of them can't actually pass the minimum 40gbps, causing issues. I'm using a 10 foot, $25 one that I picked up off of Amazon with zero issues running 4K 120Hz RGB 10 bit with G-Sync on (with this beta LG CX firmware).

Pretty sure it's a good one, brand new monster cable optical HDMI 8K 48gbps cable. some games crash while loading (tomb raider) while others load but just show a black screen (RDR2) but if I then try to close out the app, I get the prompt in full screen am I sure I want to exit? tried a ton of combinations between settings and the TV and nothing changes. even with G-sync off and Instant game response off on the TV - still nothing changes.

I tried that exact cable, 15 foot version and 75 foot version, and had similar results as you on my 48CX with my 3090 FTW3 ultra. It's definitely not a good cable for this setup. arestavo

I got the 6.5 foot version of that cable and I have to say it works great. I also have zero issues with it running the beta LG CX firmware. And that's good to hear that the 10 foot cable works good too. I tried the 15 foot cable of that brand and there were tons of issues. It's funny too, the 15 foot version of that cable has a card that says it's a 18 Gbps 4k/60 cable... which of course is not what the listing on amazon says. It also looks very different than the 6.5 foot version I have.

It does stink trying to find something that works. I really really need a cable that is 30 feet long. I've tried multiple 8k/60 hdmi optical cables around that length that "should" work, but they all have problems. Seems to be the most prevalent problem I have with these cables is flicking when G sync is turned on (note that I'm on the beta software with my CX). I have a 30 foot monoprice 8k/60 optical hdmi cable coming that costs $230. That's dang expensive, but I'm really hoping it will work.

This doesn't solve my black screen issues....I'm really pretty sure that they're software related (drivers)......
It just black screens sitting at desktop for 5 seconds....comes back...sound is dead...have to reboot.
It's weird.

Question about DCH vs Standard... Why would someone have one or the other & which one should I be using? Right now I apparently have DCH installed, is that the typical one people use? I only noticed this is "a thing" when trying to get these Beta drivers (which didn't even show up as available with my current GPU selected), then I checked & saw that I'm running on DCH drivers now.

I have a tad more information; one of my biggest issues has been RDR2, and I've narrowed that down to Vulcan being the problem, if I flip to DX12 with all other settings being the same it works. So I still lean toward highest probability of the drivers being the primary issue, game & engine, then on to card/TV Bios/firmware. The 2080 Ti worked flawlessly, but that was limited to HDMI 2.0 - so I really think the protocol change to 2.1 is at fault and my guess is Nvidia simply hasn't done enough yet to work out the kinks. Another interesting point - I can loop port royal for an hour hammering the GPU, I can play Doom Vulkan 4K HDR fulls screen no issues, Death stranding & Tomb raider both now work with the latest hotfix & bios but RDR2 craps out on Vulkan, works on DX12... so the fact it's game/engine specific I feel points toward it not being a physical cable issue. It's interesting others are having HDMI cable issues, it surprises me if that's the issue. I also can't find any other HDMI 2.1 or 8K cables that should be trusted (not a fan of knock-off amazon crap). anyone know of any good cables?

Why would someone have one or the other & which one should I be using? Supposedly, the Standard and DCH drivers are the same but the DCH package is smaller. I had been experiencing serious stability issues with the DCH / Microsoft Store Nvidia Control Panel combo. Any given driver would fail, NCP would go bye-bye and the M/S driver would take over. It was a pain to recover and I would repeatedly have to repeat my recovery steps after some random span of time; minutes, hours, weeks. Installing Standard brought me back to the realm of complete predictability/stability. Whatever makes it work (consistently) is the way to go.
