How much of an performance impact does it have? I was/am always using 8-bit color mode on 4k 144Hz, because most displays don't have true 10-bit color panel. Is 10-bit color mode still more stable or 8-bit?

Has anyone else been having driver crash issues? I've been getting nvlddmkm failure black screen issues where the system won't recover until restarted. I am not sure if it's hardware or driver related. I have already tested with different power supplies and am waiting to hear back from EVGA. I'm hoping the black screening will somehow be magically fixed by this update.

That was a symptom for me when my Revision 0.1 3090 FTW3 was dying after 3rd time after crashing it didn't output any signal anymore after rebooting. Thank god for the EVGA RMA. I got a v.1.0 Revision now. So far so good.

If you have an HDR monitor, I'd recommend not installing this driver. They are having deathloops happen due to problems with HDR, connected to the issues that Steve posted earlier in the thread. It is possible to recover from them but can be a major headache. If you do have HDR and want to install this driver for some reason, make sure to turn HDR off first.

You appear to be correct. Perhaps this thread should either be unpinned or annotated in the subject that this is currently a notebook-only release.

Yeah it made a bit of a mess on my end as I did not catch that and installed them. First my Vive Pro 2 VR headset would not work and then PX1 was all messed up. Think I have it cleaned up now and back to 471.68.

I see it on there maybe it was not there when you looked earlier as they show up when I searched for 3080ti

You are also correct. It was not posted when I made my last post here in response to d.burnette. My guess is someone at Nvidia made an oops and forgot to release them for desktop systems at the same time they released the notebook version.

The game-ready desktop version was released a short while ago. I just installed it, so I’ll see how it goes. As a side note, 720 GB? Really? Why the heck does each drivers release keep getting closer and closer to the 1 TB file size?

I played RDR2 after installing it. No difference in benchmark results, and the game generally handled as expected. No issues with YouTube scrolling like how indicated in one of the replies here. That’s about the extent of my experience with it thus far.

Because Nvidia stubbornly refuses to break off their ray tracing card drivers from the older ones. They really should have at least two branches for drivers these days - ones for the pre-ray tracing cards, and ones for the newer ones. Currently they fix something for one card, and it breaks something for another.

Governator just downloaded, so no go? I'll install my 3080 Ti with 68 then...
The game-ready desktop version was released a short while ago. I just installed it, so I’ll see how it goes. As a side note, 720 GB? Really? Why the heck does each drivers release keep getting closer and closer to the 1 TB file size?
Because Nvidia stubbornly refuses to break off their ray tracing card drivers from the older ones. They really should have at least two branches for drivers these days - ones for the pre-ray tracing cards, and ones for the newer ones. Currently they fix something for one card, and it breaks something for another.
My file size blunder aside - still can’t believe I did that - I’d really like to know why the drivers installer file keeps getting larger and larger. Part of it’s likely raytracing stuff, but I also think it’s because the drivers support every GeForce card all the way back to the 600 series. The TestingGames YouTube channel posted a video comparing the same hardware with different versions of drivers from 2017-present, and there’s a small gain from newer drivers. So, I get why every model card is included. Still, there’s got to be a better way than downloading actual GB worth of files throughout a year. Otherwise, if given enough time, there will be a 1 TB file download. It might take a century or so, but the point is it will happen with the current trend.
