Hello!
What would you all say is the normal noise level of the 1080 Ti FE? What should I expect from the FE?

I've never had a FE or blower cooler before. I'm afraid of it sounding like a jet engine. What was your experience?

You will hear air moving, but the days of the fan itself whining are long gone.  I don't mind them at all, personally.  People that need absolute silence apparently disagree.

Hey, thank you for responding to my post. I really appreciate you giving your experience.  That is good to hear. I'm very sensitive to noise and high pitch sounds. So I'm still apprehensive of the FE. But I'll give it a shot, if it comes to it.

Since the rest is just me rambling off topic, you may ignore it. :D Thank you again for your reply.

I have been debating putting acoustic foam on the wall right behind where the PC exhausts. It might help disperse some of the sound. That is if I get the FE. I'm still hopefully about the SC Black being added to the Step Up list. But also preparing myself for if it isn't.

Maybe I should look for a more sound dampening case too. Be Quiet's Dark Base 900 looks nice.

I have SLI 1080 TI FE and they are quiet. Part of it depends on your temperature comfort level. If you don't mind the stock temp limit of 84c then they are ninjas but if you are trying to OC them and keep them at 60-65 then they will get a little bit noisey. Also on a side note if you are sensitive to noise you should look into replacing your case fans with the Corsair Magnetic fans, I did for my CPU cooler and it cut noise in half.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't mind the computer making a bit of noise.  I've got thirteen fans in my case, (HAF 932), not counting the ones on the video cards themselves, and it's not like there's a 747 running in the same room, but there is the sound of air moving.  I actually find a bit of background noise to be relaxing.

I agree with this. As long as you aren't writing a story or doing something in silence in which case the gpu should be chill anyways. I crank my fans up a little bit just so it isn't too silent in my office at night lol.

It is mostly an air moving noise from where it exhausts from the rear. As such I don't think case sound dampening will all that helpful for the GPU noise. Now for spinning hard drives or maybe coil whine, yeah.

In idle it isn't noisy .. you wont be bothered coming from a custom card to FE. When you start a game you'll go deaf though ... during load the FE cards are L-O-U-D. Would not recommend unless you plan to watercool it.

I think your're being more than a little overly dramatic about the noise.  I've had several generations of EVGA cards up through the GTX980 SC's in SLI with the single fan blower type, and even with the fans set at 100%, it really wasn't all that loud.  Yeah..., you could hear them, but not from the next room or even from out in the hall just outside the door to the room.

    I remember this video.

I had dual R9 295X in crossfire and they were louder than this. I had to bolt my PC to the floor. The best part was that for 2000 dollars they still couldn't give me smooth game play at 1080 30 FPS. Crossfire and AMD optimization are a joke. So happy I went Green. I almost forgot. I had to run two 1600w PSU's and pay an extra 20 a month in electric. But I didn't need to run a heater in the winter!

    Hey everyone!
First off, thank you all for posting. I really appreciate your input. :D

I have SLI 1080 TI FE and they are quiet. Part of it depends on your temperature comfort level. If you don't mind the stock temp limit of 84c then they are ninjas but if you are trying to OC them and keep them at 60-65 then they will get a little bit noisy. Also on a side note if you are sensitive to noise you should look into replacing your case fans with the Corsair Magnetic fans, I did for my CPU cooler and it cut noise in half.

It would sadden me if I had to run it hot. Right now my 1080 FTW2 never goes above 73 and its predecessor 1080 FTW never went above 68. But I understand what you're saying. I have to choose between good temps or noise. Oh and I won't be overclocking.
About the fans, right now I'm all Noctua. Six NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM total. Four case fans running at 30%, and two more on the NH-D15. I took a small gamble since they have a higher rpm than other Noctua fans, but they're really pleasing at 30% with a ton of power if I need it. :D

Haha, thank you for sharing the video. That guy on the left, I kept imagining Jayztwocent in his place. haha. My system is in an Evolv ATX non-tempered glass model. I can hear everything inside it. It hides nothing. heh.

That's a good point about the sound dampening not affecting it since its shooting out the back.

Aww. But yeah, that is about what I expected to hear. And yeah, water cooling has been something I considered. I love the way EK blocks look. But a if I had the money to buy water cooling parts, then that would mean I have the money to just buy the card I want. Step up is my only option right now. Oh and my paranoia would be off the charts with water in my system. haha. That's just me, I know it's safe when well done.

Just got one today. Idles at 28° and the highest temp was during a dual loop of Haven benchmark and it got to 70°, this is using Afterburner default fan setting. I have a good size case with good air flow and the fan noise wasn't even enough to grab my attention. I couldn't tell the fan was ramping up. The performance is killer!

Exactly what I was going to say. I run mine at 65 or less; very loud. I play with headphone so I don't care about the noise.

Every review out there has the 1080 Ti measuring identical to the Titan X Pascal cooler in terms of noise. And the Titan Xp cooler is a veritable dust buster when the card is cranked to 2GHz. I know everyone has different standards, but I'd really question your hearing when this cooler measurably is 6db above the MSI 1080 Ti aftermarket cooler (i.e., it's 4 times the sound pressure level).

It's loud and hot, just ditched mine for a Asus 1080ti. Anything over 65% fan speed gets to be ridiculous. I had a 1080 FE and now the Ti FE, never again!

Of corse you can hear it, but it's not like it is unbearable. When you have lots of fans in your case, the PSU fan is working too and you maybe have a headset...you are probably not going to hear a lot anyway.
