I am a second hand owner of a 2070 super black and it has a very weird beep code as soon as I plugged it in. I have had my ticket open for 10 days and I would like to hear back as soon as possible so I can either continue with RMA or look to get a refund from seller of this card. I'm from the UK

Thanks in advance.

The EU office has been experiencing a lot of delays recently. Hopefully they can assist you soon.

    Okay thanks for the update.

I tried calling the EU number too but it seemed like it wasn't working, got a weird message.

I bought this as "untested" as I am protected by both eBay and EVGA since their warranty is the best. its still within its 2 year manufacturing warranty so if there is some reason for warranty being rejected I can just put an item not as described claim on the ebay purchase as it said "still under warranty".

Shall I give it another week before asking again?

Hi We have followed up with your support ticket requests. Our EU team is working as hard as they can right now to follow up with the inquiries. Of course you are always welcome to use the forums as a point of contact as well. Have a great day.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've sent some pictures along now showing the card front and back and the cooler/gpu die. I took it apart as the previous owner had destroyed the do not tamper stickers so no harm in doing so.

I found one of the worst re-pasting jobs I've ever seen as there was about 4x as much thermal paste than necessary.

Based on the pictures would like to know if this would invalidate the RMA already or if I should still go ahead with it. Other than the poor thermal paste job, I can't see anything else wrong with it physically.

Just because I am nosey, what is happening with the card? If there is a ton of thermal paste on the card, you may be able to clean it up and reapply it. If the old user utilized something like AS-5 it is capacitive, so it would likely cause the card to not function properly.

If you do try the repaste, you are looking at maybe an hour or two of downtime, and if it works, saves shipping and waiting more. If not, it’s only a little time lost (hopefully).

Hi, yeah I was mistaken about the thermal paste as it seems to have been a square on the cooler itself so must be the factory paste - it still looked pretty messy. I'd already cleaned it up earlier, going to put some new paste on it after work. So fortunately it won't be capacitive if its factory and it wouldn't be the previous owners error either which would keep the RMA valid. I'll hopefully hear back from tech support soon to see what they think about it and can hopefully proceed with the RMA.

The fact it was factory paste makes me think even after cleaning and re-pasting it wont make a difference to the problem. Although the card was taken apart before so perhaps the previous owner did some smudging around the die when they put it back together.

If the original owner took it apart, and there was still factory paste on the card, I would assume that is at least a small part of the problem.

When you get home, would you mind sharing pictures here as well?

I have said in the past that when I retire, I would like to get a job repasting GPU’s all day long, lol. I enjoy it, and I have never been super impressed with factory paste jobs.

Working from home so hear you go. It's not as messy as I might have made it out to be, but its more paste than i've usually seen not on the die itself.

I cleaned it up and then put a small amount on and spread it across the whole die with an little applicator. From what I've heard its better to do a spread on gpu's whereas with CPUs you'd do a pea sized dollop and put the cooler on.

Still no luck with the card after that though.

I actually kept getting an error while trying to put the rma through, said timed out even though i'd just logged in and immediately tried to submit the rma.

Wowza...if it's not able to be RMA, I'd take a credit card, qtip and tooth brush to that with Asaka TIM cleaner. You could even use high 90% isopropyl, or other non conductive fluids/oils.

I even when to town with a toothbrush and running water on a motherboard I though was toast and after a great deal of drying it booted fine after removing all the excess paste.

Seems that i´m having the same issue. I opened a support ticket to begin the rma process, but EVGA.eu doesn´t respond. I only have 10 days left of warranty on the card. I contact them last thursday for the support ticket. If the warranty period expires, what will happen?

Usually it takes them several days to answer. I know it can be very frustrating, when you wait for an answer or even for help and the support team doesn't answer on time. However I have been on their side for almost 5 years, working in support is really challenging, believe me. I know what I say. Because your question is device related, it's better to wait for an answer from the official representative. In other cases, I would suggest finding answers somewhere else, especially if the matter is urgent. Just go with and google will direct you to the nearest it help desk.
