hi guys, Did anyone receive notification of the elite member queue yesterday by EVGA? I just found out that the queue was open yesterday (its closed now) for those of us who are elite members, however i received no notification from EVGA, which in releases previous they have done. Maybe my email was lost in the ether, maybe they never sent any notifications out this time? i obviously checked my spam etc. and nothing.

I think you misunderstand me? im not saying a notification of signing up to the queue. Previously EVGA would send out an email saying something like 'Brand new card released on 1/10/21 @ 10am PST! Elite members get 24 hours to sign up! before general public' I received no notification at all. The last email i have from EVGA is regarding the 3050 and 3090Ti. I had no idea the elite queue was even open yesterday as i assumed EVGA would notify Elite members of an upcoming release.

I didn't notice it and normally the forums get really active when they announce an upcoming release. Maybe it's because JacobF just had a baby over the weekend but I personally would wait and see if it's up just as a place holder and will go live in the near future.

I was able to sign up about 90 minutes ago. Appears to be closed, now, though. Looks like this was a silent release.

I misunderstood you then, sorry. Yeah this was an unannounced release most likely due to Nvidia not wanting to release information ahead of time. The only reason people knew to check was because of the news stories about the rumours. https://wccftech.com/nvid...-card-on-11th-january/

yeah thats another issue entirely, i am unsure how +2GB of vram = neary 2x the price. Vram isnt that expensive.

If AMD does, then it'll cost pretty much the same. It's the mining boom, global component shortages, and the people who make the chips that drive the prices, not the chip designers.

$1300 for that level of performance is a good deal imo. Its completely unrealistic to compare the MSRP of a GPU in 2022, with the MSRP of the original 3000 series cards launched in September 2020, considering that the price of ETH has went up by 800% since then, and there are now global component shortages. The world changed, prices changed too, that's just the way it is, short of jumping in a time machine, its just something that everyone will need to get used to.

he's not comparing it to a "original 3000 series cards launched in September 2020". he's comparing it to the 3080Ti, which launched 6 months ago... for $1200.

it is completely realistic to compare the MSRP as the only ones who have had massive increases in their "wages" is companies. Prices for everything have gone up stupidly, while people are still making the same, if not less money. Just l look at how Nvidia's quarterly profits have broken records since Q1FY2021. Q1FY21 was up 65.8% ($3.080), Q2FY21 was up 66% ($3.866), Q3FY21 was up 65.5% ($4.726), Q4FY21 was up 65.5% ($5.003), Q1FY22 was up 66.2% ($5.661), Q2FY21 was up 66.7% ($6.507), Q3FY22 was up 67% ($7.103) in BILLIONS. In under 2 years Nvidia went from $3.080 billion per quarter to $7. billion per quarter in revenue (equal to their HALF their revenue of FY19), all while claiming there is a "video card shortage". https://investor.nvidia.c...y-results/default.aspx So yes it's perfectly realistic to compare the MSRP as Nvidia is literally making money hand over fist. In the span of 2 years they increased their revenue to the point they are making in 6 months what it took them to do in a year, all while raising prices to record levels, and claiming they have no product to sell.

Yep, Nvidia and many others are full of it and we are living through a massive redistribution of wealth. Top 0.1% went from having like 85% of all money to like 90%. Sure am glad they got that extra 5% while the rest of us leaches fight it out over 33% less.

To be fair, doesn't Nvidia preorder from TSMC in advance and anything last minute or what have you they will be paying up the wazoo? Clearly the demand did go through the roof these last two years. It was the perfect storm if you will. Everything costs more because of printing money from thin air, chain disruptions and sky high demand. Sure they made lots of money but it also costs a lot for RnD, etc and as times goes, that will only increase.

I saw the tweet notification, but no email. Odd. My coworker just bought a Zotak 3080ti from the shuffle for A LOT more. People taking out their frustration only on EVGA? Every trade has been hit. Stainless steel junction boxes that would normally be around $250 is now running over $1K. I hope we're given advanced notice for the 3050 sign-up.

Because NVIDIA wanted a stealth launch. They didn't even provide drivers to tech reviewers to test the card before launch. They almost certainly had an embargo in place to prevent AIBs from saying anything.

No notification for me too. I think Nvidia and AIB may be in the "price discovery" mode, meaning, raise the price and see if demand is still there. If the new 3080 12GB model is still selling at $1200+ like hot cakes, continue to raise the price for the next model release.

No new product notification for me. I am annoyed. Not because I really want such a card at that price. I am annoyed because I have gotten notices before which means I have satisfied EVGA's requirements so I should have been notified. On a related and much more satisfying note, I did get my notify for a 3070Ti last week and is "out for delivery" right now. :)

Yeah, Hardware Unboxed was probably the first tech reviewer that confirmed he was under an embargo and NDA for the 3080 12GB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS7lx5us1fg AIBs were most certainly under similar agreements from Nvidia.
