Hi, I tried to search the web for a specific answer and could only find the same subject but with everyone never mentioning my specific question within the subject.  All my dying to know is, do I run something that stresses my pc, like Heaven Benchmark, DURING, a Precision X1 Auto/VF/OC/Voltage/Whatever you call it SCAN?  I saw in a video tutorial for just using the Precision x1 and manually overclocking that you in fact do run avp or heaven benchmark or etc during the process.  But the auto scan or what the web is calling the one hit button auto overclocking, does this require the same thing?  or do you know if that it already auto takes care of everything for me including what the benchmark programs do?  Its a simple question but I tried as hard as I could to explain because I can't believe i'm the only one who doesn't have enough common sense to assume the answer.  thank you, I have a heavy work week and trying to sort out this simple question within 10 hours.

Most likely not, no. Just run it and see what it comes back with.

Welcome to the EVGA Forums & Congrats on your first Post

The Auto Scan - Only looks for the best Stable OC for the GPU & it is self contained stress test - no benchmark software needed

Take the output "value" say 80 --> place this in the GPU section, select a Profile number, Apply, then Save

---> Highlight the Profile number if it is Not Already selected
---> Click GPU box, enter 80 then Enter key on your keyboard - Now the Apply Button -- Now then Save Button

Auto Scan - it does Not test the RAM for OC

You will want to Slide Power & Temp Targets full right,  Apply & Save

---> Manually OC you do Run benchmark software to load the system

To Make the Last Open profile work on Launch:

You must Save to a Profile Number - click on any 0-9  Then Apply & then Save

for Auto load of Last Open Profile there are a couple of items to check mark to make it work - launch on Reboot & Load previously saved Profile#

You need to select - Both of these:
     1) "Start on with OS"
     2) "Apply previous settings on load"

WARNING:  when trying to Find your best OC, Do Not select the "apply previous settings on load" --> if its an unstable setting you do not want these to load and crash your Rig on restart ---- right

then click:  Apply & then Save  (these are needed to save changes to a profile)

I May be missing something, but is anything supposed to pop up when you start the scan/test? the selection just goes gray for me until I hit cancel, no fans spin up nothing. It also doesn't seem to want to hold power target either on my 2080?

You have to let that OC Scan tool run - can take 20 min to complete

I'll give it another go, not sure how long I let it run last time I know I walked away for a while and came back and it was just gray and nothing seeming to put a gpu load on (I dont know if it does or not I never noticed the fans spin up) so I canceled, never been too concerned about gpu overclocking anyway, 10fps isnt going to suddenly make me good at the game.

More concerned about it holding power limit to normalize gpu boost when I go to water cooling in the next couple weeks.

I don't remember the scan seeming to make my PC sound as if it was running intensive like when I manually overclock it and test with a separate benchmark. I have rtx 2070 and jus a i5 8400 16 GB ram and for me it seems more stable running on my own fan curve settings and overclock settings, which isn't far off from my scan result saying 119. I use 110 ish and jus place voltage at 85, temp and power all up and made my fan curve so that it never goes past 81 at the most with my high demanding games on max settings. But the x1 was confusing I thought I had the custom fan chart/curve option clicked on by the way the check box looked, I didn't. Idk why I jus put all that down, but I tried my GPU without overclocking and it ran much hotter at cost of less loudly and think division 2 crashed on high settings, but with GPU overclocked, and even tho fps wasn't a huge increase, it didn't run as hot and ran more efficient. For me the small increase allows a lot more to be honest. I just have something like 120 sealed liquid cooler btw, temps run good
