I was just curios if anyone has tried mining with NiceHash Miner software? https://www.nicehash.com/

Thanks for the info. I really like the idea of not spending a lot of money to get a feel of mining, before jumping in heads first into building a new rig.

I think you're confusing version numbers, the CURRENT version is 1.7.5.13

they have a beta 2.0 software that uses their own algorithms instead of others.

The rates for nicehash have cratered recently. Time will tell if they rebound.

i called this. its only really profitable when the demand for miners is spiking. which has passed and now with the demand for more compute isnt as profitable neither is selling your hashes.

Their production versions use their own code on a lot of the algos, though they do support external programs like Claymore for a few specific algos like the one used for ETH.

For a while Nicehash had *THE* best miner for NVidia cards on ZEC (EWBF now matches or slightly exceeds there, but it's close and both sides continue to work on improvements).

Profitability for almost ALL cryptocoins cratered when the priced dropped from their peaks to ballpark half (sometimes a little more, sometimes less like Bitcoin dropping "only" a third or Litecoin dropping "only" 20% or so) coupled with the continued increase in hashrate on virtually all coins as folks kept adding new rigs.
     It's NOT a "Nicehash" thing.

Pricing on many coins is starting to rebound - Bitcoin in particular is challenging it's all-time high again as of tonight - but most other coins aren't rebounding enough to keep ahead of hashrate increases so far.

    Re: NiceHash 2017/08/07 12:44:50 (permalink)
I built an all EVGA GPU rig, running 7 EVGA 1080 FTW2 cards.

Running a simple OC and making 7% ROI per month using Nicehash after electricity cost. We have a EVGA shortage in South Africa so still waiting on the 8th card to complete the rig.

The only issue I have with these cards is the ability to manually set the fan speed of the power fan to 100% for optimal cooling. Precision X only detects 4 cards. No other software I have found and tested detects the second fan on the GPU. This pretty much sucks. If MSI Afterburner can detect multiple cards how hard can it be for EVGA to make that software mod? Pros and Cons of thr ability to adjust each fan individually...

    Anybody have any alternatives?

you could look into buying/making a fan splicer and connect all the fans to a single header on the card. that or connect then all to an external power source. not the easiest solution but definitely effective. i too ran into the 4 GPU limit when i build my 5 GPU rig. though i setup mine on water so i did not have to worry about the fans only clocks, which Afterburner works great for.

Thanks but going to be a mission to do. Temps are low 60 Celsius with a fan blowing on them. When power temps do get high the fans auto kick in. Would be nice to have them run full blast all the time. The cooler the better! I cannot believe there is no software out there to assist with this though.

with the fact that Nvidia locked out all BIOS moding from taking place on their 10 series GPU's the typical solution of flashing a moded BIOS with only 100% fan speed change is no longer an option.

I thought the beta version of msi afterburner worked properly with both sets of fans?

What would be a good build for Nicehash rig.  I read somewhere that the motherboard needs "4g Decoding"  to be recognized by the Nicehash software to use more than 3 cards. Does anyone have more info about this?

Pretty much any current motherboard should work fine with Nicehash.
The basics of the build are going to be IDENTICAL to the basics for any "mining rig" build.
