I thought it was random too, until many people who've won once get "lucky" a few more times. I don't think that's a coincidence. If newegg is being fair as they claim, winners would be omitted from future shuffles to ensure everyone else gets a chance.

I never tried for a card, just a 5950X but never was successful. I've even purchased a bunch of stuff lately from them and always failed.

I won the shuffle for a 3080ti TUF, and a $200 motherboard (funny enough, the exact same one im currently using). But I paid $2330 for it. Now I'm realizing I really should have just hopped on craigslist and bought a scalped EVGA hybrid 3080ti, which is the one I actually wanted, for about the same price. They only give you a 2-hour window, and I just panicked and punched in my CC info without thinking. it just gets you really excited to think you "won" something. And I paid Newegg a scalped price. I'm also now feeling a bit stupid for upgrading to a 3080ti when I already have a 3080. I always get a really bad case of "Shiny new thing" syndrome and im jealous of my BFs 3080ti FTW3 that he got from a great queue time  . I just hope my prediction is correct, that the 3080ti hybrid FTW3 queue isn't going to move at all, just like the 3080 didn't. If i do get the hybrid queue popped, im going to feel pretty dumb lol

It should be noted the shuffle has been going on since last year and was started due to the pandemic and Ampere shortage. The current crypo price insanity really started heating up around Feb 1st. Prior to that you could get a card on Bestbuy online, in person at Microcenter with ease, or even on Amazon if you were quick or using a free bot, for example scalped 3080's had about a 30-50% markup. Now with crypto demand prices are way up and all websites are heavily botted, or scalpers are using plants at microcenter or best buy in person.
Newegg says you are not supposed to use multiple accounts in the Shuffle and they will disqualify you, but scalpers who normally use bots are experts in creating fake accounts and using bots to manipulate them. So I have to gather that every shuffle sees (tens of) thousands of entries from scalper fake accounts skewing the odds in their favor. Same with the EVGA que, there are likely many fake scalper entries. Prior to Feb 1 the level of scalper/bot activity was far less intense, so if you won the Shuffle back then you were in a far different environment.

From what I gather you are better off that way, as if you are selected you might waste the chance on a card you don't want.

Hell I've been doing Newegg Shuffles everyday since late March and I'm some where close to the 0 and 60 range now. It's nuts. Just need two cards to catch my kids up with modern day graphics.... Can the video card gods smile upon me for once? :P

Youre whole quote makes me sad, you already had a 3080, you already had the MOBO and you STILL bought it and STILL GOT PICKED, man at least let someone who doesnt have it get the chance. I really do wonder how many people that have gotten chosen are like this, seems like its more this than not.

DXchase, I understand the feeling, I guess my post probably came off a little disillusioned. I am selling my 3080 to my friend for what I paid (pre-tarrif MSRP). He has been dry hunting for a 3000x series card for almost a year now. I am not hoarding a card that I do not need, and I am not scalping it. I just got the 3080ti because buying a 3080, and then immediately having the TI come out stung a little. I got burned the same by buying a 1080 and having the 1080ti coming out right after. And looking back, the 1080ti still holds strong today, while the 1080 doesnt as much. I want to not upgrade again for 5 years. I'm not really complaining that I got selected for a 3080ti. I am just saying that on my local craigslist, 3080ti FEs are selling for $1900. I paid $2330 for my 3080ti from newegg. So honestly, the shuffle is kind of a scam, newegg is scalping. For anyone hoping to win the shuffle; honestly you can probably get a card off craigslist or offer up for the same price. Heck, get a 3090 for a little bit more. The shuffle is NOT selling cards for MSRP, and that is my complaint.

I'm 0-46 in the Shuffle, but I've skipped many of them because of the selection and the ones I did enter I only picked cards/CPUs I really wanted that were NOT combos and priced at or close to MSRP not just lighting up the check marks.
