I am quite sure that it doesn't modify the VGA BIOS. I believe it updates the firmware on some discrete chip on the card without affecting anything else. That being the case, based on other users' experiences, it should not matter the position of the BIOS switch.

    Hi,
Yeah I tried the slave bios seems very buggy for some reason never got anything out of it so I returned to master side has always worked well,
But indeed just wondering I never chase the newest driver and was hesitant to do a firmware updater from Nvidia seeing it's a evga card with their bios or firmware... :/
My Titan Xp already had the new firmware only a few months old.

    Hi,
Reason I asked is a friend had issues using the toolbut a system image seems to have fixed it for him.
essenbe-I just updated my firmwate and tried to update the graphics driver and ended up with nothing but a black screen.Nothing I tried would fix it. Maybe I could have fixed it eventually if I kept trying, but I just restored a Macrium image I had made yesterday. Now I am back up and running fine.

It wasn't the firmware update that caused it. I rebooted twice after that update with no problems. I think it was DDU. After uninstalling the old drivers I used DDU to boot into safe mode which it refused to do. Besides, the FW update for the card has nothing to do with Windows or drivers if it did what I think it did, which is a BIOS update to the card. That part went smooth and worked fine.

At any rate, Macrium to the rescue again.

    it modifies the vbios,

specifically, it dumps the  current bios, scans for and updates the GOP region to the latest then flashes it back to the card.

This update is only enabling Big format gaming resolutions in the pre-windows uefi bios and install interfaces.

FYI - I updated my EVGA GTX1080 using the NVidia tool without issues.

    Hi,
I imagine you would not have the firmware already so yeah use the check and installer in my original question if you want too that is
I'm going to hold off I do not have a newest hdr monitor anyway plus all first release nvidia stuff is buggy as heck anyway and this is not revisable without another tool remove nvidia.

To me personally it would be nice if EVGA would state they are testing this feature with their bios for possible bugs nvidia might not be aware of seeing not many evga gpu's are founders editions and evga uses much higher clocks.
