Finally ready to retire the p55 and i5 760! Can't decide between a i7 7820x system or a i7 8700k system. I'll be running a single 1070ftw which I already have. Other than that everything will be replaced. I mostly game and do some light video editing. Suggestions would be great!

For gaming, i7-8700K is the way to go.  If you get i7-7820x plus 2066 mobo, you will be spending a whole lot more money for zero gaming performance gain.

I always tell people to get an i7 if they can afford it without compromising other parts of their build. The reason is that even though most games do not take advantage of Hyperthreading, background tasks can and often do. This allows games to not be interrupted to nearly as much of a degree that they could be when background tasks do not have those extra threads.

If you're only into Intel then that is the way to go BUT if you're on a budget a 2nd gen RYZEN and X470 motherboard will be just fine (and cheaper) and will game very well.
