Case - old school coolermaster nvidia edition - love this thing purely for the size and airflow.
Mainboard - EVGA Z270 FTW K.
CPU - I7 7700 K.
Corsair Vengance LPX 16GB 3200mhz.
Graphics card - EVGA 1070 GTX.
Corsair H100i V2 AIO.
O/S Windows 10 pro.

Running everything at default speeds.
Have to say i'm well impressed with this thing, cpu is straight outa the box and not delidded and its running idle @29 0c.
While playing the only game i have installed sofar PUBG i'm only hitting top temps of 49 0c which is nearly half the temp of my old I7 920 @ 4.1 ghz.

However i do have a couple of minor but niggly peevs.

1) the fact the mainboard has only 1 USB 2 header which is currently running the pump for my AIO which inturn removes the usb header for my case front panel ports, is there a way i can regain functionality of the front ports, i'm not bothered about usb 3 so is there a usb 3 to usb 2 splitter i can buy ?.

2) everytime i shutdown the system and reboot i'm greeted with the "please insert bootable media or enable bootable device msg.
I then have to boot into bios hit F10 and reboot to get the system to boot from my ssd.
Also in the Bios i seem to recall there being an option to boot via UEFI or legacy atm i'm running on legacy ( sure i'm supposed to be running UEFI) but if i select that option and reboot the system just boots to the bios - is there a reason for this - should i be using UEFI instead of legacy and if i have for some reason messed up is there a way i can rectify without having to re install this B/S O/S again.

Thanks for any help.

for the USB you can use this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6V83SP5680&cm_re=usb_3_to_usb_2-_-9SIA6V83SP5680-_-Product, i bought one and it does the job, gives you two usb 2 ports for the front

for your boot question you will need to reinstall windows, follow the directions in the manual on what you need to change for ufei install. also make sure to convert your disk to GPT so they work best.

Thanks Quadlatte, I'll grab 1 also with regards to the uefi problem I'm having I have updated bios to the latest version, I set bios defaults, my evo 850 is in sata port 2 the 6g 1 and my DVD is in SATA port 2 express 1.
If I enable legacy mode in boot options it shows my DVD and ssd but if I set uefi all I get in boot options is hard disk and cd/dvd.
I can install via legacy but like I said it just boots into bios when set to uefi.
Also as i have already installed win10 via legacy would i need to delete the partition on my ssd and start as if it were a new drive ? (Just a thought)
    Any help please ?

With the system you have in order to boot to the SSD as the primary boot device you need the Windows Boot manager and if you don't see this as an option then the easiest and fastest thing to try is to boot the system with your Windows DVD of Windows USB stick and choose the repair option which should fix the Boot manager but you can only do this when the BIOs is set to UEFI.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

And therein lies my problem i cannot boot from the dvd unless the system is in legacy mode ( unless there is a setting that enables this, although would be very surprised as i assume these systems are suppose to run straight out of the box.)

If i change to UEFI it just loops back into the bios and although under the advanced tab it details the SSD under the boot tab it just shows as cd/dvd and hard drive with no details.
If i change back to legacy it again details the devices normally again.
Am i just blind or stupid, missing something obvious here.
Would i need to start from scratch and completely delete all partitions on the SSD.

    Thanks Sajin.

So delete all partitions on ssd reboot into bios change to uefi and it should then boot from DVD and install to ssd ?

Hope your right mate as that's a lot of installing for nothing if it doesn't work but I'll give it a go.

Again thanks for the replies I'll keep you all updated.
Btw do I need to change to gpt durring install or can it be done after?

    No problem.

    Question 1: Yes.
Question 2: Windows setup should automatically set it to GPT for you.

It didn't work, removed 3 partitions from my ssd booted into the bios hit f5 for defaults hit f10 to save and exit rebooted with a fresh ssd and every bloody time it boots into bios.

    Getting really frustrated 😈.

Oh well back to legacy boot and another day of crappy win10 updates.

Try booting directly to the cd drive to get the windows install rolling.

Right have set cd/DVD as boot option 1 under the boot menu.
    CSN dissabled.
Under the advanced sata tab my ssd is plugged into port 2 and my DVD is in port 3 which I believe are the 6g ports intended for ssd.
So now on the boot tab it's set to uefi with cd/dvd as boot option 1.
Hit f10 save and exit and bam back into bios.

Man this is killing me 😈

I can't upload pics of my bios as I don't have a working rig now and the pic size on my phone is to big to upload.
    Arrrhhggggg lol.

Should secure boot be enabled with uefi or disabled ?.
Also if you look at the ss I uploaded you can see the difference between what I'm seeing under uefi and under legacy.
Don't know if that helps any.

The ONLY way I seem to be able to boot from the DVD is to set legacy.

I know it's frustrating, but maybe upload a picture on your phone to an imgur or flikr app and get a smaller version to post that way?

    Do this...

#1 Reset bios to default settings.
#2 Change boot mode to UEFI. Only change this setting and nothing else.
    #3 Save & Exit BIOS.
#4 Spam ESC or F7 until the quick boot menu pops up.
#5 Select your dvd drive to start the windows install process.

Your board has triple bios support. Try the other two bioses along with the steps posted in post #16 and let me know if you get the same results or not.

Lol am at a complete loss as to how to sort this out.
I know everything works under legacy so why not under uefi.

Wouldn't be anything to do with my DVD being an old ATAPI device would it although it is a sata drive so shouldn't affect the install or detection.

No. It should still be detected. What do your CSM options look like?

By default it is set to disabled.
Should secure boot be enabled or dissabled ?.

    Try this...

#1 Reset bios to default settings.
#2 Change boot mode to UEFI.
#3 Under CSM change Launch CSM to Enabled.
#4 Under CSM change Launch Storage OpROM Policy to UEFI.
    #5 Save & Exit BIOS.
#6 Spam ESC or F7 until the quick boot menu pops up.
#7 See if anything is detected on the quick boot menu now.
