I don't know then. I suppose I will have to rebuild under legacy again as I need a working rig. How much performance gain or loss do I get with 1 over the other, also it will install under mbr how much performance drop do I get not runing a gpt?

I just see in the description what the oprom was but after saving and rebooting still only get the Enter Setup option

Differences between UEFI & Legacy... - Max partition size in MBR(Legacy) is ~2TB whereas in GPT(UEFI) it is ~9 ZetaBytes.
- MBR can have at max 4 primary partition whereas GPT can have 128.
- MBR can store only one bootloader whereas GPT has a separate dedicated EFI System Partition(ESP) for storing multiple bootloaders.
- UEFI offers secure boot which can prevent boot-time viruses from loading.
- UEFI is usually a bit faster than legacy.

I think you need to reflash your bios as you're missing options under csm.

When I set bios defaults.
Uefi is enabled.
Csm is dissabled.
Secure boot is not active.
If I enable secure boot I get a msg saying secure boot can be enabled when platform is in user mode. Repeat operation after enrolling platform key (pk).

Does a usb stick show in the quick boot menu when you have the boot mode set to uefi?

Ok thanks buddy for all your help and patience in helping to resolve this issue I will give the creators tool a shot tomorrow or should i say later today when i can borrow my kids rig to create the usb. So it's the device it's installing from ? Now that I have Iso do I image it to usb and install from there ?. The site don't really go into to much detail about what to do other than download Iso then check win version and language and that's all the info it gives.

You don't need the .iso file as that is for creating a DVD. When it asked you which media you wanted to create you should have selected usb flash drive.

It appears it's going take a while.
If you hear an actual physical shout of elation coming from down the street it's just me having a little stress release.
However if you hear alot of shouting and expletives then it didn't work lol π

Ok Sajin after about 3hrs sleep I have created the usb and am now installing under UEFI π you sir are a hero for sticking with this old English dude π thanks for all your help.
When I started the install it asked me for an O/S key and I don't have 1 as the image I had was from the free upgrade service.
Do you think this may be an issue or will I need to get a key ?.

Ok new update "Yes using media creation tool worked like a charm installed win10 pro like a pro and in minutes as well.
But I now realised why I only wanted to install from dvd, I got the dvd release as a free download all activated and everything while running win7.
Now though having used the media creation tool to install, my O/S isn't activated anymore.
I know the dvd copy is activated as when I installed it via legacy mode using the dvd it showed as activated.
Is there anyway to img the install dvd to usb and have that usb bootable so it can install as normal.
I have tried using Novicorp win to flash and rufus, rufus looked the most promising as when it created the usb it had a windows icon by the usb in explorer instead of looking like another removable device.
However when booting it simply bypasses and boots to my unactivated version.
Any please help losing my mind am I.

How you activate Windows 10 after reinstalling it depends on how Windows 10 was originally installed on your device. If you activated a free upgrade to Windows 10 or bought and activated Windows 10 from the Store, you have a digital license for your device. This means you can reinstall the same edition of Windows 10 that your device has a digital license for without entering a product key. Thanks br i have to say i'm liking it very much everything is running pretty smoothly :) I do have 1 more question however could someone tell me what i have to disable in the cpu setup for over clocking. to prevent thermal throttling and the like. Also on my old x58 having vdroop set of was the norm is that still the same or should i just leave as adapt ?. I may have made myself look like an arse there but hey if you don't ask you will never know. :) Thanks in adv. Paul.. P.S I a'm loving this build :)
