Hello everyone,
So I've only tried New World once with default fan curve and it was only for 5min or less and temps started getting a little high for that short amount of time 90.5 degrees C for the hot spot. I have the 10g-p5-3897-KR that I've had little less than a week now. I used to play it with my ftw3 3070 also KR no problems at all. I'm not entirely sure what the problem was because everything I googled went from blaming amazon to capacitors on the cards to voltage spikes ect. Was there a bios that fixed this stuff because mine is running shipped bios at 94.02.42.80.16 revision A1. I did do the firmware update from precision x1 and changed the fan curve to aggressive which has seemed to help a lot on the other games I've tried poe, lost ark, apex. I would like to try new world again, but from all the disasters that was happening way back when, and considering this card release date was sept 1, 2020 I'm just curious.

Thanks

No idea.. have you hunted on here for newer bios for your card??

Unsure from all the talk on this topic in the past.. might come down to how good your power supply is as well. Transient response to large power spikes.

If the card runs hot.. make sure to setup the fans to run hard before the temps get out of control. Like have them hit 75-100% from 45c and up.

Sync the fans to the main gpu fan so all are working towards the goal of keeping the temps down on the card

I mean surely evga wouldn't sell cards that were frying from it still or would make updates to all previous models right? I'm not sure about the bios, I'm not sure what it changes or doesn't. I'm not to tech savvy and not just going to flash a bios without knowing what it updates. As for my model of psu it is a corsair rm 850x. On the games I named prev. it runs ok. I'm just wanting to know what change if any, or could change with a bios before I really try new world again. Hopefully a evga tech could chime in. Thanks for the response though.

Then call them and ask.. cause this forum is for users and evga does not monitor it.

Not sure evga would mention what your asking anyways.. they have been mum on the topic.

I'm not sure the current status of New World, but here's the TLDR from some previous threads (note: I haven't checked them in quite some time)

New World, or any other published game, should not cause damage to any card running factory specifications. If the card fails, it is the card's fault. That said, it also seemed to be the case that New World was putting very unpredictable ("odd" maybe a good descriptor) loads on GPUs that was more stressful to them than any known GPU stress test. There were people who could run furmark, kombuster, or whatever other high load on their cards and the card would be fine, but NW would kill it. This indicates the likelihood of rapidly shifting loads that caused the GPU to switch between light and high loads at a high rate of speed and the transitions seemed to be causing the damage. That said, the GPU should protect itself, and most do.

Full disclaimer here, as noted above, I haven't checked on this issue in some time as I have no interest in that game. The game could have been patched to balance the loading, and GPU vBIOS's/firmwares could have been updated to handle that loading better. It would be a good idea for you to download Precision X1 and make sure your card's vBIOS and firmware are up to date. Also, make sure you have good airflow/cooling in your case. One thing you can do that may help is drag the power slider down to ~65% if you really want to be on the safer side. Or you can go full-tilt and RMA the card if it fails because EVGA is covering failures that happen in that game if your card is under warranty.

I know they did put a frame limit on the menus so that the GPU didn't try to render the menus in the game at as many FPS as it could possibly handle. Apparently that caused a lot of cards to burn out as they rendered hundreds of frames per second that they didn't need to.

if you are not overclocked and running the aggressive fan curve, I think you would be fine
