UPDATED 11/14/2014 with latest available ROMs, including Intel RAID Option ROM modded for TRIM!

Here are the links to all EVGA X58 motherboard BIOS 83 modded by me with the latest available Intel RAID Option ROM 13.5.0.2164, JMicron RAID Option ROM 1.07.28, and Realtek PXE ROM 2.60. Mod tool used is CBROM v.198. The only BIOS I have actually tested is the E75783.bin file, which is for the X58 LE board. All BIOSes should work just fine with these new ROMs, but just like Dejanh, I take absolutely no responsibility for any damage this may cause to your motherboard. Enjoy!

All files can be downloaded directly from my Google Drive:

Hi, can you update to latest version?

Which version would that be? As far as I'm aware, 13.5.0.2164 is still the latest available ROM. There is a newer PXE ROM 2.61 which I will incorporate into the next update, once a new RAID ROM is out.

Thanks for doing this Henry.  I had problems with 77 on my E759 a while back, so I stuck with 74 since nothing was broken.  Nothing in the changelogs of newer versions mentioned my issue or seemed to have great new features, so I wasn't too concerned.  I've been looking at the 6-core CPUs (including Xeons) lately, so I figured I should probably get the BIOS updated to ensure proper support.  After reading through all the different BIOS version threads since 77 (every page of every version), plus the updated OROM stuff, I decided to give yours a shot.

I updated to Fernando's modified RST(e) 13.6 driver to go with the updated OROM.  I took pics of every screen of my BIOS so I would have a record of all settings.  I flashed your .bin with the options to clear the CMOS and DMI data, write the BootBlock, and automatically program it (the exact same commandline I used with 77 before).  After rebooting, I went into the BIOS and changed a few preferences and set my BClk back to 167 for the standard overclock I've been running for years.  I basically left everything else on the default value or Auto.

Windows booted up perfectly.  I have access to all my RAM, plus now my timings are a little tighter and VCore is a little lower.  The system so far is working just as well as before, but with better settings all around.  Thanks for one of the best BIOS update experiences I've had.  I guess I'm getting old (as I don't tweak my PC as much these days), but the improved experience is tempting me to see if I can OC a bit higher without too much trouble now.  I realize you're basically just combining a few files from different companies into one package, but the end result is that the file you created provided me with a perfect experience, while my last experience with an official EVGA file was a huge pain (though admittedly EVGA's latest file may have worked just as well).

Why would you need to run modified rst drivers? On my 759 I installed original 12.9 rst package no problem. Do I need to run modified ones to get more features?

Thanks

Edit: Just read Henry's post that theres no need for modified drivers. A Little late. Thanks.

Thank you very much.  I'm using your 13.5 Intel RAID modded bios and it works perfectly.  The new 14.5 drivers seem to be about to finalize, so this will be very useful.

Re:New RAID ROM 2015/05/29 11:54:05 (permalink)
I'm sure Intel/MS are testing that as well.  They've had that functionality in there since 11.2.0.0000.  I doubt they'd release 14.x with Microsoft Windows not issuing trim over scsi devices.  Btw, scsi devices for RAID is how it should have been in the beginning.  They've been in a no man's land up until now, but this is the easy part.  SCSI commands have been issued since the invention of server side computing.  And this is software.  It's not hard to alter.

In any case, the deal with the Intel RAID ROM & Intel driver set is that you match them.  Whatever ROM build you have, 11 or 13 or 14, you match the major build number with the Intel driver and RAID binary software.  You don't go above or below.  You don't mix and match.  You keep it uniform.

So I have a 13.5 Intel rom, and I'm sticking with 13.x software until I update that ROM.  14.x drivers aren't finalized yet, so I'm going to hold off on updating to a 14.x ROM until that happens.  It works.  It's stable.

And thanks to Henry Vits for the updated ROM bios(https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1_E2jaFAbT2X1owTlVPcl9uc1E&usp=sharing).  He's been on the ball from the jump, just not many people seemed to have noticed him.  Always screwing around with that other bios for some reason, even when it was a day late, dollar short, and didn't work properly.  No offense, but that's what I saw.  In any case, kudos to everyone working to keep this chipset alive.  The classified mobo's just don't die, and the CPU's aren't really getting that much faster, so there are now more reasons to upgrade the BIOS/ROM's than to just swap out your computer every 2 years.

Anything newer than the X58 chipset uses UEFI instead of the older BIOS. It's very easy to use this tool to update all the ROMs:

Hope that helps!

I tested UBU (Universal BIOS Updater) on a EVGA 77 series BIOS yesterday. It updated all ROMs/EFIs to the latest available and created a new *.BIN file. Since I don't have a 77 series board, I was not able to flash. It should work just fine, though. Did you flash the BIN file modded by UBU?

yes i tried flashing the modified one in windows by running the bat as admin, tool opens ask to press Y and then it just cancels out the command prompt and says your computer is shutting down.

nvm flashed in dos and it worked.  But be wary the modified bios doesn't flash in windows via the bat file.  Also the USB 3.0 ports in the back didnt not like having a keyboard attached to them after flash it would power it but wouldn't detect a keyboard.

The 14.6 intel rom bios works perfectly on the E760, but the intel 14.6 drivers are kicking my ass.  The damn thing won't load without freezing.  Still on 14.5.2.1088 driver base.  Tried the win-raid.com modded drivers and same freeze on boot/load.

I'm getting the feeling that Intel is dicking us over at 14.6.  Let me know if any of you classified x58 guys can get the 14.6 intel rst drivers working.  Might have to flatten my OS or go Linux.

Not sure why. Installed fine on my E757 in RAID mode with one drive. It is possible that it won't install if the BIOS is set to AHCI.

Well, I'm not sure what's going on, but the intel 14.6 RST driver is consistently freezing up my motherboard.  Flattened the OS, and the same result when updated.  This is a x58 Classified E760.  Looks like I'll be stuck on 14.5 for awhile, regardless of ROM revision.
