Only flight sim I ever enjoyed was IL-2. However, this looks promising, may have to check it out.

The benefit of MS's flight sim (other than the MS Flight abomination) is that it's always been open world with "missions" if you wanted to do them.  The open world you could literally fly anywhere in the world, except like the extremes of the poles.  Though I haven't tried that actually in FSX, but earlier versions the "world" was actually more of a squashed barrel shape and you couldn't do polar routes there was a "wall" once you got to a certain point.  One of the best points of the franchise is the ability to incorporate all kinds of addons (scenery, textures, terrain mesh, airplanes, better weather simming, etc.) and hopefully they keep that for the 2020 version or it's going to bomb pretty bad with the main flight sim community who already has lots of options.

Well there has been talk of it being a subscription thing and that was why they are running everything through XBox live account.  Plus I read it will be interesting to see how add-ons work as Microsoft sold the rights to the original flight sim off and the new stuff will not be compatible with any of the old. So I would think it starts new.  I really don't like the idea of having to pay a subscription to play.  Having to purchase all the DLC was the problem with Flight.

If it comes out as a subscription, yeah I see it ending up as Flight 2.0 then as far as the flightsim community is concerned.

A subscription model isn't going to scare me off, then again, I tend to put thousands of hours into my sim projects. Those that are casual are not going to want to "rent" MSFS20 via subscription though.
