EVGA 850 T2 psu, Intel i9 12900K, 32G Gskill trid Z 6000 RAM, 2TB 980 Sam pro ssd, Fractal def7 case .
The case is still open, but everything works .
I will be adding a vid card, and DVD burner as well .  Mainly want to see if pictures post .
Are you supposed to have to right click on the pict. icon, and select "open in a new tab", or did I do it wrong ?

How are the temps? I bet that Noctua is struggling to keep that 12900K in check.

Thanks .  I see some wires to clean up already .  All the pro's stuff looks so good here that I was a little shy about posting mine .
The machine works better than it looks :)  Thanks also for posting my computer picture .  I'll work on that some more .

To tell the truth, that, and the money, is why I did not buy the KS .  Noctua says on their compat. chart
that the 12900K is supported, even a little OC is permitted .  I just installed Win 11, and chipset drivers last Sun,
( kudos to Microsoft and Gigabyte for that easy process ), so I don't have any software to properly load the CPU,
and I don't have a graphics card installed either .  Using intel integrated graphics on old 22" mon.  Not too bad .
But, I did run it for over 45 min. streaming vids on three browser tabs at once just now ( while I ate ) .
According to BIOS, it started out at 26C after about ten min., and ended at 26C .
The CPU socket steel back plate is only slightly hot to the touch .
The fans stayed on slow the whole time ... but, open case, no proper load, ect.

Mr./ Chaos_21, I have downloaded, and ran CPUZ stress test for 20 min., and got the following:
CPU max. temps. 53-68C depending on core @ base freq. 4.9Ghz perf. cores, 3.7Ghz eco. cores .
The MB automatically overclocked the processor when I set the XMP profile to 6000 .
Seems to run fine that way though .

You can use the IG and load / run Cinebench to test CPU temps...with my full large custom loop any cpu voltage north of 1.35v produces a lot of heat.

KS is a waste of money unless your planning on pushing clocks, better off to ditch the air cooler and get yourself a decent 360 AIO.

Nice work btw!

Personally I prefer AIO cooling to air cooling, but the double fans should work satisfactorily.

Mr. rjbarker; I installed Cinebench R23 ( free from MS store ), and HWiNFO 64 ( free, I'm cheap ), and ran them together for ten minutes .  Here's what I got:
CPU package min. 23C ( idle ), max. 85C .  It ran 85 for a little while, then fans kicked up a little faster ( noise not too bad ), and it settled at 84C for the rest of the test .
Really makes the IG slug along, but it doesn't stall .  Voltage maxed at 1.308V Vcore .  Max watts 214 ( astonishing, and way over spec .  You must be pulling about 300W ) .
Looks like the processor got up to 5.2Ghz, turbo .  This thing just decides how fast it's going to go on its own .  It's not under my control :(

I agree about the KS at its current prices, but on the bright side its appearance has made the i9-12900K price come down a bit .  I hear you about the AIO,
and know liquid is better, but for now at least I'll stick with the blower :)   <----- paid for .
P.S. thanks, I neated it up a bit, don't want you guys laughing too hard !
P.S.S. pretty nice system you've got !

Yes, sir, AIO is definitely better .  I think the air cooler will work for me under normal to hard usage .
It's one of the biggest ones you can get .  In fact that is why I bought the wide computer case .
Right now I want to install the optical drive I ordered, and save my pennies for a nice Video card .
Maybe I'll find some gold bars laying around that I can trade for one :)

To the Moon ... on a low budget .

Update .  Case clearance check .  Case is Fractal design 7 .  Cooler Noctua NH-D15 .  RAM Gskill TridentZ5 .
About 1/8" fan to RAM, and 3/4 of a match book fan to side of case .  We are go for optical drive insertion maneuvers .

Yeah, I thought they would stay dry there :)
Speaking of tight fits, here's one of my other computers .
It's an all EVGA machine based on an EVGA Z370 ClassK MB, 8086K CPU, EVGA 3080 vid card, and EVGA PSU .
This is the top view of the open GD08 horizontal case .  Besides the visible optical drive, there's also an HDD,
SATA SSD, two case fans, and lots of cable under that over-hang on the left .
It's all packed in there, but does stay cool .  I even put my printer on top .

Well, I've been playing computer mechanic, again .  Added an ASUS Blu-ray writer,. and two case fans .
Man, that optical drive is fast, and works great with just Win11 driver .  Now I have tunes .

I put cardboard baffling that I made from an empty snack box around the case fans to keep the air from
recirculating through the case bottom and front grill work .  The air will exit through the PSU shroud
right under the video card area, and push the warm air out from behind the mother board .

So now my new computer is made of expensive parts, and ... garbage :)

To the Moon ... with tunes .

Yeah, it's hideous, but no one will see it after I put the side panel on ;)  The OD wasn't super expensive, and came with screws, and basic burning software .  It can be found cheaper not bundled .
It's a normal ASUS BW-16D1HT .   According to some people, these guys sell a more expensive, bios modified one, that can play uhd movies right out of the box, but it has no warranty :(
https://www.cloner-allian...QmjEAQYAiABEgJGoPD_BwE
I also have an LG Super-multi Blu that works well on a Win10 Z370 computer .  It burns discs, and plays bluray movies using PowerDVD .  Those can be had even cheaper .

Re. Cool GTX

Well, short answer, no difference at all .  I ran CINEBENCH R23 and HWiNFO64 as above, except that I put the right side case panel on this time ( the side behind the MB ) .
The case is divided into two areas by a PSU shroud .  I covered the PSU section, that has the two new fans in it, so that the air would go where I wanted it to go .
The rest of the case was open as before .  Got an EVGA 3090 FTW Ultra on order, and will close the case after install :)
The steady CPU temperature under load was 84C per both the "mother board", and the "CPU" HWiNFO64 hardware monitor readouts .
The Max CPU temp per the "MB" readout was 85C, and 87C per the "CPU" readout .  Almost exactly as before, not surprising given that both tests were run in an open case situation .
I wonder why the Max "mother board" CPU temp. and the Max "CPU" CPU temp. are different; are they two different sensors ?

Done ... for now .
The EVGA RTX 3090 ftw3 is installed, and working great :)

Other side with loose cables restrained .  No wires in the fans .

The final product .

Thermal tests:
Used Cinebench 23, and HWiNFO64 running together as above .

Case 1 .  Graphics card installed, case open as before .
              steady temp. 84 - 85C,  Max temp. 87C ... no difference .
Case 2.   With GPU card, case closed, with dust filters in, case door open .
              steady temp. 91 - 92C,  Max temp. 93C ... big jump up .
Case 3.   With GPU card, case closed, with dust filters in, case door closed .
              steady temp. 92 - 93C,  Max temp. 94 - 95C ... a little hotter yet .
Case 4.   With GPU card, case closed, with dust filters in, case door closed, case fans on manual full speed .
              steady temp. 89 - 91C,  Max temp. 92 - 93C ... acceptable
might have to open the case door, and crank up the fans for crazy stuff :)

edit; more tests with air filters out, fans back on "normal" .

Case 5.   With GPU card, case closed, with front dust filter out, case door closed, case fans on normal .
              steady temp. 89 - 90C,  Max temp. 90 - 91C ... better
Case 6.   With GPU card, case closed, with front dust filter out, case door open, case fans on normal .
              steady temp. 86 - 87C,  Max temp. 88C ... better still
Case 7.   With GPU card, case closed, with front and bottom dust filters out, case door closed, case fans on normal .
              steady temp. 89 - 90C,  Max temp. 89 - 90C ... up a bit
Case 8.   With GPU card, case closed, with front and bottom dust filters out, case door open, case fans on normal .
              steady temp. 86 - 87C,  Max temp. 87 - 88C ...   Almost same as open case .
Apparently the front filter and door make the most difference .
Might have to open the case door, take out the filters, and crank up the fans for the craziest stuff :)

No thermal throttling reported on any run .  I'm pretty happy with that .

EVGA 850 T2 psu, Intel i9 12900K cpu, 32G Gskill trid Z 6000 RAM, 2TB 980 Sam pro ssd, Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite MB,
Fractal def7 case, ASUS BW16D-1HT Blu ray burnner, EVGA RTX 3090 FTW Ultra, Noctua NH-D15 cpu cooler,
and MB beep speaker .  Win11 .
