So my x79 motherboard took a dump... well the CPU power connector has failed after serving me for a long time.
Evga will RMA the board but wont have a X79 product to replace it with, so being that I will most likely get a X99, Z270, or X299 product I decided to just go the AMD route this time around, try something different...See what the hype is all about firsthand.
Really I feel x99 is old, Z270 CPUs are kinda expensive and X299 is gong to be short lived.. like LGA2011.
So That will be for sale when I receive it.

Card edit.
Can't crossfire out of the box so away with Vega...what a let down too. I returned one and I will be tossing the other up on ebay for $650.
Lucky for me my Freesync monitor is still a 144Hz monitor with a 1ms response time, so I don't think screen tearing or 144FPS refresh rate will be an issue
Im going with a ASUS ROG Poseidon GeForce GTX 1080 TI 11GB or maybe even a pair.
This is where I need help.
Do I go with 1 or 2?
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126202&ignorebbr=1
To be real all I Play is BF4 and 1 will be enough, but I feel BF4 is coming to a very swift end and I will be moving on soon.
I just need to find something as good or better, also I don't want to build another PC for 4-5 years.
Im from the age of tri or Q SLI/Crossfire. To use one card seems crazy to me, but is this the future of PC gaming is SLI going to be a relic sooner than later?

Going to re-use my current case, PSU, Fans, water Pump, Rads, and fittings.
<------ See mod rigs.

Update.
I won a bid on another Vega 64 on ebay... I didn't think I would win but.... I did. So CrossfireX it is.

New*
2017-9-3I placed an order for a new case. My current case looks "stupid" or oversized because its a Super ATX case with a regular ATX system now.
I got a few generic Corsair high airflow case fans for exhaust fans that I will hide three at the top and one in the basement.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103052
What I need are three Static Pressure fans (120mm) for my radiator. However it looks as if everyone makes and fan now. I think I saw a Toyota fan.....and whats the deal with ThermalTake, are they making good stuff now?
Don't need anything fancy, just a regular black static fan thats isn't loud would do. Im going to place them between the front panel and the case itself. Or would the fans in the image below look better ( white LED corsair fans)?
Case:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811553025

^
So right in front is where I will try to put them if the front cover will allow for the space.
Just feeling overwhelmed by all the choices, its crazy.

As for water cooling I'm not going to use my current pump, mostly because its made for a drive bay, the new case has no drive bays.
I was going to stuff it in the basement but I just can't, I would know.
So I'm going with this thing and cut the system down to one radiator.
XSPC D5 Photon270

http://www.performance-pcs.com/xspc-x4-photon-270-reservoir-pump-combo-v2.html

Got the 1080ti, fired it up to test that it worked.
Packaging was insane. Three boxes all floating within each other with bumpers.

Clean the rads out, started the new loop.
Started to move some wires.
New fans look nice, now I want matching 140mm fans... so thats coming.

Some new updates.
up and running.
I need to close up the back side and wait for two more 140mm fans to arrive.

Some CPUs are quite expensive which is why I went down the AMD RYZEN road.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I've been very happy with my Ryzen, I hope you enjoy yours!

Just don't forget to get the AM4 adaptor for the cpu water block if you're keeping the current one.

I placed an order for the full board mono block by EK.
What Zen CPU did you get?
I looked at the 1700 but it was 80 bucks more for workloads Im not going to push.
1600 had the same gaming performance so I found a 1600x onsale for $229 on newegg.

Do you have a link to your system?

I got the 1700X for my system, Microcenter had a sale and I had a $50 off coupon from them so I used it on the cpu.

Yeah after I said that I searched for you in Modrigs.com ( on my phone).
Hey maybe if there are enough Ryzen users we should have a AMD section on the forum....so I don't have to count on Toms hardware forum for help.

No doubt about that! It's been tough finding reliable answers sometimes.
I am very happy with my Ryzen though; it rips through everything I'm doing and games well too. I'm actually averaging a little over 20fps faster in BF1 with this at 3.8ghz versus my 4790k @4.4ghz.

Nice,
I mostly play BF4... Like 99% of the time.
But I want to play a few new games (and two of them came with the card).
Even the mobo came with a game.

I ended up winning another vega64 on ebay and the seller is also including two games.

Click me ^

Got some gear, just waiting on my CPU water block and 2nd Vega64.

All I need now are two GPU blocks from EK.
I was thinking of getting the clear ones to match the motherboard's mono block and nickel backs covers too match the Asus board.

How much of a difference will I see with windows on a samsung evo SSD vs a m.2 samsung 960?
I get the m.2 reads/writes at 3200/1500 but the regular SSD does about the same after boot in "Rapid Mode".
It would only be for Windows10, is it worth the $115 for the m.2?

960 is definitely faster. I haven't done a comparison myself but the one I did was between a sandisk 240GB vs evo 500 (trying to get more games into boot drive). the boot time was increased by less than 1 sec. So booting is your thing I would say its very minimal. Yes 4k write is awesome on 960, there fore its a better drive but that should concern you if you do 4k encoding.

Booting and opening most programs, you'd see a small difference, but if you're dealing with large files, reading and writing them is noticeably faster. But on the day to day office, web stuff, not much.

Yeah I know. They have a few features disabled currently and we'll just have to wait.
The card does say it supports CrossfireX (this is what they are calling Crossfire now).

I reached out to Sapphire about this and they said it Supported, so this means we're waiting on AMD for this one.

So I'm going to hold off on ordering 2 GPU water blocks for the moment.

-------------
Edit.
All the documents keep calling it Gen-3.0 CrossfireX, maybe if I configure the bios to set the PCIe slots at 3.0 8x8 I will have the option to crossfire.

Monoblock arrived, I installed it and tested all my parts to make sure they were not DOA.
Because I cant crossfire Vega (yet) I was able to return my card to newegg bc the webpage says "Crossfire-YES"... So I got them on a technicality.
However the unit I got on Ebay I am stuck with, but im sure it will be enough for now.

This is not a finished loop, just a component test.

Hate to piggy back someones question however i had the same one myself. I have about 300 blue rays to convert to store on my qnas. Would the 960 evo or pro lend enough help with this type of workload?

Asus 1080ti Poseidon ordered!
Can not wait.

Going to get a smaller case too. The super ATX case it just too big for this tiny system.
PANZER Couger, only 90 bucks. I was a bit skeptical  about the build quality but I stumbled on a video by JayzTwoCents who uses the same case.
Video:

Clickable image:

As for that UGLY logo on the inside Im going to get a Custom Ryzen decal and or magnet made to cover it.

Now I need a new water pump, wish I didn't give away the three swiftech pumps I had....
Or I could hide my current 5.25" dual bay res/pump combo in the basement.

Stay Tuned.

I also want matching red SSDs for the front, any suggestions?

And you ordered ASUS GTX1080Ti Poseidon.
My prediction was true when I saw him that ASUS will sold many of them.
People asked for Matrix immediately, but that's not necessary.
These days I clean PC, install Windows, paste and than upgrade GPU.

I think you made mistake because you didn't used EVGA X99 FTW-K and some Haswell-E or Broadwell-E.
i7-5930K could be bought cheap, or even i7-6850K. 40 PCI-E lanes for SLI of Poseidon. But you decide Ryzen 5.
You say EVGA want to replace board, you had chance to ger PREMIUM E-ATX X99 board with ANGLED 24 pin connector.
OK you could upgrade Ryzen to 1800X. But same is with X99.
Are you aware that i7-5960X and i7-6950X and i7-6900K will be strong years... when new socket show up and replace 2066 difference from him and X99 will be almost same new platform from X299. Maybe 10%... Next 2-3 years people will use platform just 10% stronger than X99 on same clock. All people are under impression of comparison on default frequency and that's how Intel sell products when no real improvements. Intel X299 8 core on 4.3GHz vs Intel X99 8 core on 3.7GHz.
Intel X299 10 core 4.3GHz vs Intel X99 10 cores 3.5GHz, 800MHz difference in fabric speed.

Keep in mind that slightly larger cases may increase airflow and keep your system cooler.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I second the that! If for no other reason, there's rooms for more fans.

They do custom anything so if you want red let them know. They do fast shipping; usually 3 days from there to TX anyway.

Anyone know if frosted spraypaint will stick to tempered glass?
