Now I am just looking to build a new system. I am looking at either and i7 or an AMD ryzen. I have always loved EVGA products. What I have to carry over is: Corsair HX1200i psu 2 eVGA 1080sc 12 gb ddr3 Antec 1200 case.
Probably looking to buy (spend $500-$900): CPU MB Likely RAM
Currently have x58 Classified System

Switching to another system won't bring you much more performance than staying on your X58 rig. I'm running the same rig as yours with a 1080Ti and a 980X overclocked to 4.8/5 Ghz and i'm getting better results in 3dmark than people with 7700k :D https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/29500791 You'd better spend your money building a custom watercooling system that you can use to pump your CPU close to 5 Ghz as well and sell your 2 GTX 1080 to buy a 2080Ti which will perform much better as a mono GPU than your SLI ;) Plus AMD is probably gonna release 7nm processors not too far from now, which will put pressure on intel to release new hardware as well or lower their prices (lowering prices is not nothing intel does often in fact :D). PS: assuming you can solve your E760 problem ;)

My advice, take some time and compare detailed specs and features between motherboard mfg. If you see a mfg listing generic specs, they probably trying to hide something from you. See what hardware people are using or recommending on other forums/websites. https://pcpartpicker.com/https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/https://www.overclock.net/forum/index.phphttps://linustechtips.com/main/ Intel CPU, if you want the best gaming performance At least 16GB of DDR4 RAM (2666-3200mhz) Hard to go wrong with ASRock or ASUS motherboards I would carry over the Sound Blaster Z Watch out when purchasing the new hardware. If you purchase it on Amazon, make sure it's sold and shipped by Amazon.com. If you buy it from Newegg, make sure it's sold and shipped by Newegg. I recommend buying from Amazon, they take better care of customers. No matter the time of year, Amazon never makes you wait 30-60mins to chat with a customer service rep, like Newegg is known for. X58 was a beast. I upgraded from X58 i7-950 to Z270 i7-7700k in early 2017. I could notice a difference in performance gaming and encoding movies.

Intel 9th gen just announced and CPU's coming next month supposedly. The 8th gen i3 is almost matching performance with top Haswell i7's. You should see a big improvement if you go z370 or z390 with a 9th gen i5 or above. I'd go with Intel. Their cores aren't soy and that means they can have fewer that perform better and lead in most anything except benchmarks focused on as many possible cores as possible and some video editing software, but even then if you go i9 you'll beat AMD now. Was not impressed by z100 and z200, but gen 2 z300 is legit performance upgrade.

Z370 + i7-8700k is a good option to save money. +1 for G.Skill RAM ProlimaTech sells adapter kit for 1151 socket. Make sure you have enough clearance for the RAM you choose.

Currently Intel is about $1159 and AMD is about $864 $864 seems more manageable. Intel way seems very minimal FPS gains.

I'm sure you will like the AMD system. I have 32GB of DDR4 3200 RAM. I went with Samsung EVO 960 1TB NVMe m.2 drive for my system. Did you order the H150i too?

No I didnt get the 150i. Do you think that would be an overkill for the Ryzen?

You can see how well the stock cooler works. If you want a 360mm AIO cooler and the new case will support it, go for it.

LMAO, that budget got blown straight to hell in under four posts. I feel your pain. I'd save up and plan a build around DDR5 ram, PCIe 5.0, and when those come out next year-ish, check the new CPU/chipset meta. Remember to plan around your use. Not optimizing your system for your use is a sure way to waste money.
