https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/finance/news/apple-set-unveil-new-iphones-2018-163208198.html
Apple released a new iPhone yesterday. The maxed out price is $1,500...
A stranger hands you $1,500 and you have to pick the phone or FTW 2080 ti. Which do you choose?
For the iPhone assume the Xs “max” with 512 gb storage -> $1,449
(My choice would be the 2080 ti as I can use the compute power for something productive. I’m convinced my smartphone has made me dumber)
I used to mine. Now I compute.

Pretty crazy if you ask me. But I guess some have different priorities. The most I ever paid for a phone was $100.00. That was about 6 yrs ago or so. It still makes phone calls the same now as it did then...

I think if someone pays $1500 for a phone they don't know what priorities are. I did the same thing. $100.00 CAD for a phone 5 years ago.

With all my passion for iPhones and fact that I will not use any other cell phone I have no problem to replace iPhone SE next year for iPhone 7 or iPhone 8. I would never paid 500$ for cell phone, not 1500$. Off course for 1500$ I would bought 2080Ti and GPU block and rest of money left on side because I know i9-9900K will become available for 350-400 euro on market place in my country. Maybe not first month but withing 2-3 99%. If not In mean time I would have enough for full price to pay. Selling my motherboard, CPU and Monoblock I would afford nice Mobo and CPU block. Z390 don't need Monoblock necessary. 90% of people who chase for newest cell phone no computer at all or keep 200$ worth laptops. I look everything on computer and don't use full capacity even of iPhone SE 16GB. Only miss me better camera on cell phone to make pictures of my hardware everyday. With older iPhone now I see how is stupid when you wear masks to protect 1200$ worth cell phone. You buy him and can't enjoy in his touch and build quality. My iPhone have nothing any more... and because I don't put him in same pocket with keys or metal he is not scratch at all. They are very durable, but when you pay 1000$ you feel completely different and you need to protect him with armors, silicon, tempered glass, etc...

When my LG G3's SIM card slot stopped working, I opted for a free replacement based off my plan (Huawei P10, octa-core, dual Leica camera, 32 GB storage with 4 GB RAM) with 6x more data limit for free (3 GB). Huawei is my brand of choice now. If I had to buy one, I wouldn't pay more than $1000 CAD. Luckily, I didn't have to.

Personally speaking, I am going to be getting the XS Max 256GB model. For me it is a replacement for an iPhone 6 and an old iPad, the camera being capable is a bonus. I don't think the 512GB will be very popular, but I think the 256GB will be.

Who pays for a $1500 GPU? No on a serious note, most I've paid was $400ish for a used iphone 7 128 GB 'like new' condition. I don't think I'll ever go beyond that.

Me too, but I don't buy used... I search for people who make contract with same provider as me and immediately sell fabric sealed phone only to faster get cash for better models. Than they pay better models with Cash and easy pay every month for contract they made. I don't care if they are locked to my provider, SIM Free and locked sometimes is price difference 40 euro. Than you can find very affordable models in your network. Anyway that's strongest in country who keep tv, phones, digital TV, etc... I wait to iPhone 8 drop on 350-380 to buy Space Grey with 64GB. Right now I looked and fast I saw few New 8 64GB for 460 euro used and 550 new... with provider warranty are all only shorter time used. Probably have and bellow. For few months their price will be acceptable and you have perfect cell phone with A11 chip. I enjoy in good games with searching artefacts and games with good story etc... more than blockbuster movies. Only some SCI-FI type of movies are similar to me as gaming, from other side after 15 min talking with telephone I become anxious and typing 2-3 SMS and that's it, or What's up or Viber, that's it. No gaming, no surfing, no watching youtube and expensive cell phones are waste of money. From other side I could use full capacity of 2080Ti easy.

Such specification mean nothing to me when I see colorfull icons on iPhone on table...simple menu, apps, etc... Or I'm so happy when I see some actors in movies use iPhones, etc... But don't need to be best and newest model. 6s or 7 or 8 all of them make me happy because I can't see difference in situation I use cell phone.

I like control, intuitive, customizations, easebility and convenience. I've ran into too many hassles with customer's iPhone's. I can do a lot more with Android and have 15 GB free cloud storage, not five (Apple). When I make an album on one device, it actually syncs, unlike iCloud. I created an album and it only showed up on the iPhone, not the MacBook. Don't get me wrong, I love my Apple TV 4K HDR with 32 GB and iPod Classic 80 GB. Though, I'll stick with my PC and Android phone, hands down.

I'd definitely go for the GPU. Also I use Android, and my Pixel XL is still going strong.

Also a reasonable question. I would never pay that much for any of these products. I paid $530 for my ASUS Strix 1070 and even less for my Sapphire Nitro+ RX Vega 56. Yeah, you read that right.

panzlock ......Who pays $1500 for a phone???
This is a trend in 2018. It's the same person who will pay $1200 for an RTX2080ti. Manufacturers are pushing the envelope just to see if they can change the established paradigms that consumer price point are set at. They will push it until consumers start pushing back.
