I tried another program, and the extend option is not there either. Cannot extend a "Dynamic Disk".

If it's saying Dynamic Disk it would seem like that would be for like a RAID setup or possibly from the drive having a protected backup file like a Laptop backup section of the hard drive. If I had to guess since you are saying it's not that large it's probably from loading a RAID driver when Windows was installed.

No program will allow me to convert the dynamic disk to basic unless I pay for the programs. Won't extend unless the disks are converted to basic.  :(

Ok that program changed it to basic, however it still won't extend more than 455MB's. I don't get it! Sigh!

I think it's trying to take that unallocated space next to C in the G drive. I need to somehow move the other unallocated space to go after the C drive so it picks up that instead. Not sure how to do it though.

 UPDATE: Success

It's fixed. Sajin had me go to  https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/26829-convert-dynamic-disk-basic-disk.html and follow the instructions to change the partitions from dynamic to basic. After following the instructions, I restarted the computer. This was successful in getting the partitions to basic to the partitions could be extended. He then had me go to the Minitool program again https://www.partitionwizard.com/help/extend-partition.html to try again to extend the partition. This time it worked. Took some hours to get done, but it's done. Thanks Sajin for all the help.

Re: Need help with my Hard Drive (Partitions) 2019/01/03 11:51:22 (permalink)
Glad to see you got this worked out. Wish I'd have seen it sooner, but just as an FYI to anyone else the windows extend partition function will only extend to empty space immediately "to the right" of the partition you wish to extend. So if you have for example a "C:" partition followed by a "E:" partition followed by "unallocated" space you cannot extend the "C:" partition to the "unallocated" space because the "E:" partition is between the "C:" partition and the "unallocated" space. (picture below for example)

I hope the explanation makes sense and possibly helps someone in the future.

Delirious
Just my opinion, but when you get all the drives where you want them, defragment them.

I did earlier. Drive C took a long time, but it helped. Saved 3Gb of space, and it's noticeably faster.

Yep. Had to use a 3rd party program, because the wrong drive was on the right side. Then used the other program to extend the drives.
