Hello i recently started using dual monitors on my 2080ti Hybrid. Before i ran my second monitor to my MB-Onboard gfx, but i started playing cpu intensive games and it was hindering my fps. Now upon using dual monitors on my 2080ti , i get a really bad 30 seconds freeze , where my screen just freezes for 30 seconds then comes back. By the time im back , im dead in my game. I have no idea what this can be ?

Just to trouble shoot one at a time.
    1) Turn g-sync on and no other vsync enabled in game.
    2) then try 144HZ and limit fps to 120 or less.
    3) in Nvidia control panel (NCP) make sure physx is set to your 2080ti and not your CPU
    4) in NCP check Global settings adjust settings for Maximum pre-rendered frames to one or experiment with others
    5) if using g-sync set Monitor Technology to Gsync
    6) NCP turn off any vsync settings
You can also select program Settings and just select the particular game and set the same settings instead of using Global settings

If the game asks to limit ram to card, deselect so you can use system ram as well. Same for pre-render in game-allow game to allow pre-render.

Sounds like your display drivers are crashing and recovering. Check the windows event viewer to see if you can visibly see any nvidia display driver stopped responding and recover error messages.

Please list the make/model/age of your power supply too.

Also need to mention i ran the first setup with my secondary monitor on my Motherboard Display Port , and my Main monitor on my GPU
Everything was running fine , but i wanted to try dual monitor on my GPU since my MB sometimes wouldnt register dual monitors and i had to manually add it in over and over sometimes.
So now i reverted back to that setup because the 30 seconds freeze was unbearable.

Csgo is the only game ive been playing , but no never happened in any game, also i played with dual monitors one on MB-DP and main on GPU and so far no freeze. Not sure if any of the settings i changed help either , since i changed so many at once.

edit : it just did it while browsing the web  i couldnt move my mouse for 10 seconds ..

edit #2: i think i figured it out when i replugged my main monitor DP cord it was not fully in the socket of the gpu .. it was barely connecting it , then i pushed it in and it clicked .. lmao that might be the problem

i forgot to mention i have evga 1000w gold power supply..

having issues with this card my 1080ti had no issues but , i guess it happens with new TECh..
will update tonight reverting back to January Drivers ... the ones that worked in all games for me
the hardest part is trying to predict the occurrence. Since now its not even when playing a game. Im trying to have task manager open when it happens so i can see whats happening

Okay. None of your hardware is overheating when this issue occurs? The issue is occuring when having both the displays hooked up to the gpu, and when only having one monitor hooked up to the motherboard & gpu, so both configs?

No i thought it was having both connected to the GPU , but it happened while having my second monitor on MB-DP slot and Main on GPU.
No temps look fine on everything.. 40C under load for CPU and gpu same .. i could also try just one monitor latter today

Im a streamer so i kinda need two screens.
Also this just barely started happening like 4 days ago, and have been running this setup for a month now. It happened when i disconnected everything to replace a old hard drive for storage

Ok, so the issue only occurs when having both monitors connected to the 2080 ti correct? Maybe the new hdd is causing the issue? I'd disconnect it and see if the issue goes away.

Could be either of these two solutions because i did them at the same time and the issue was resolved
first i checked windows update and i guess i missed a Monitor Update back in
    12/10/2018 - Intel Corporation - Display -25.20.100.6471
I Replugged in my new hard drive and changed the power options to have hard drive not sleep ever.. it was set to after 20 mins make hdd sleep.
    1. Go to Start > Type “power options”, and then hit “Enter”.
    2. Click on “Change plan settings”
    3. Now, click on change advanced power settings, select “Hard drive” from the left pane and then click on it.
    4. Hence, at the turn off hard disk after, select maximum time so as to prevent the hard drive from powering down.
After doing these two have not experienced the freeze.

Interesting. Could the turn off hard disk setting in power options be responsible for stutters in games? What is the chance of your gaming drive going to sleep after 20 mins while gaming? Would a game not keep the drive it's running off active quite frequently?

Yeah that doesn't make sense but ya never know.  The only thing that comes to mind that stuttered me was a Windows Update that since was fixed and closing PX1.  I don't have too many stutters like I used to.

I don't know exactly how frequently a game is accessing the drive (game files drive) but I don't think it would hurt to set the hard disk to not sleep for your performance or gaming power plan. I'm still trying to iron out a few little stutters on my system.

Yes you should just to weed things out but don't know why a disk would ever go to sleep that you access for gaming which would be really odd.
