And what if the liquid stops flowing? How would you know???

Fom Corsair:
Will I need to fill the unit with water? Do I have to perform any maintenance?

Both H50 and H70 units are designed to be a closed-loop solution with no maintenance required at all. The units come pre-filled and feature proprietary hoses that virtually eliminate evaporation of water. The expected lifespan of the average unit is significantly longer than the 2 year warranty period.

What about this: http://www.coolitsystems.com/index.php/en/eco-c240-dual.html?

I was interested in that product too several months ago.  Since I couldn't find a reseller in the US who carries the C240, I wrote to CoolIT to inquire about buying it direct from them.  They said they have had no success getting their channels in the US to carry the C240 (which I thought was odd, but seems to be true).

The price direct from CoolIT at the time was ~$130, but the shipping from Canada to the US was $40 (or 31% of the product price).  I replied to CoolIT that the shipping was more than I would pay and they said they would check on a less expensive method and get back to me.  I never heard back from them after that and it kind of put a sour note on my feelings about them as a company.  I've also had other product dealings with manufacturers out of Canada (all good companies), but because of the high shipping costs (even for things that are small and light-weight), I've found myself having to eat a product that was defective because it costs more than the product is worth to ship it in for repair.  Food for thought if you live in the US.

If you live in the US, unless you could buy that CoolIT product from a US based reseller who will replace it if it fails under warranty, I'd look at other solutions than CoolIT.

I hear ya, even though they have non conductive coolent now days it still worries me.

Still waiting on UPS to deliver my goodies but from what I've read aslong as your not going to go past 4Ghz you will be fine so long as you have good airflow.

Something else I've seen alot of talk about was the corsair H50 and H70. They are sealed water systems so you wont need to worry about the ~yearly water change out, fluid levels, ect..
I'm still on the fence of its worth it performance wise. Another issues/worry about it is you cant just mount the rads anywhere as they are connected with what seems to be a short hose going by pictures. All the retail stores i see them in the boxes are sealed so I cant get my heads on one.

Ended up settling for the V6 GT, which again from what I've read seems todo well. I got sick of pro and con'ing every heatsink out there.

Should I just get air and call it a day?

I think the answer to that question lies in how far you intend to take your overclocks.  Air will only get you so far.  For me it's "air" because I'm OK with 3.8GHz on my 5620's and air is simple for me.  Where are you going with your rig and the overclocks?

I am planning not to overclock much or at all (3.75, 4 GHz)
Perhaps if I feel daring, I will go to 5 GHz (super overclock)
What is the max you can overclock a 5680 or 5690?

I am reading an article in CPU about cooling.
Under their tests here are their results:

It seems the hydro is a formidable challenger to air cooling or even a custom setup!
But I am just scared I will fry $3000 worth of cpu when this thing gives out. How would it warn you?

Cool beans Charlie, I'm going to get EK blocks then.

An external radiator is just outside the case.

So series makes no difference from parallel? Do we have facts to support this? I'm not arguing, just want to know so I can minimize my efforts with good science.

Also, is there any thermodynamic/flow reason not to use 1 pump and split loops to parallel withe Y-splitters?

It won't.  What you want is to build a custom loop with two pumps in serial for redundency.

lol.  You attach the fans to the radiators and then the radiator fans to the inside of the case.  See here for some good pics.

I still don't get it:
On the front of the extended ascension, there are 9 fan holes. Is that where I mount the radiators, in the front with the air going out the front?

One triple radiator (3 x 120mm fans) would occupy 3 of the 9 holes (so you have enough room for 3 radiators on the front panel).  The recommend configuration is to have all of the radiators intake cool air.

OK, can those rads be connected to a fan controller?
Do I need 2 fans on either side of the rad, or just one on the front screwed to the case.
I still can not comprehend drawing cool air through the case, warming it with the rad, and than pushing it to supposedly cool the case.
so here is the configuration to better illustrate my point (forgive my terrible paint skills!, too lazy to do quality work now)

If I still can not figure it out, I will pay $250 for someone to install the liquid cooling. Shipping is on me both ways!

Yes.

Two fans aren't required, but more fans usually means better cooling, albeit with more noise.

Yeah, I know its counter-intuitive, but the radiators are cooling the important bits of the rig.  The rest of the components aren't sensitive to temperatures, so they can be a little warmer.

Could you place the rads on the top of the case? I will have a 12 fan top.
Is there any good method to minimize leaks and be alerted if the system is failing? What about maintenance?

You could, but it wouldn't be as "clean", compared to mounting them in the front.
I'd recommend using simple barbs with hose clamps.
Before filling the loops with distilled water, you can safely test for leaks by using air and an air pressure gauge.
For maintenance, the water should be changed once a year.

I thought there was some sort of colored liquid you could buy.
How will I know if a pump gives out???

Flow monitors!
For instance, Falcon_CMH is using the Koolance INS-FM17N flow meters (two of them) with a flow meter adapter for the motherboard.  The flow meters will track the speed of the coolant surging through the loops and the adapter converts the flow meters' signal into a fan speed for the motherboard.  That way the motherboard can keep track of the flow and do an emergency shutdown if the flow slows down too much or stops!  Here is the link to what he is using.  Of course there are other similar units in the market.

After looking at some guides, it seems easy enough to do.
I only have 1 pc build under my belt, and that was air cooled.
How hard is it to water cool... on a scale of 1-10?
I REALLY have no idea what parts to buy... so I will need help!
I would like to keep liquid cooling to just cpu, not ram or GPU.
How much am I looking at... I really have no desire to spend over $700.

I'm in the same boat as you, but it doesn't seem hard to do, just has it's risks. You really need to focus on minimizing risk of leaks. The system leak test is the riskiest job. You need to follow instruction and be extremely diligent.

Okay, I'll bite...

According to Skinnee Labs, this is the best CPU block at the moment.

For redundancy, get this reservoir and two pumps.

You need to decide on how cool and how loud you want your loops to be,  then pick a radiator from Skinnee's roundup  (the HWL GTX 360 looks to be good).

Of course you'll also need: tubing, barbs, hose clamps, maybe some shrouds if you want,  etc.

Then to elevate this build to the "ultimate" level, get the new aquaero 5  (to monitor everything).

That reservoir will not fit.
I have 6 5.25 drive bays
2 - optical
2- lamptron fan controllers
1- usb ports, front panel audio and card reader
1 -EMPTY
As for the block, do I need 2?
Which provides the best performance: the XT, HF, or silver edition (silver a bit out of my price range)?
The radiator seems to be the worst! Are you sure?
Just look at high the numbers are!!!! The blue bar is the highest of them all!!!
Once I put the liquid in the system, how to I turn it on for the first time? How will I get the liquid to cool and flow when the computer is turned on for the first time?

Option 2, 2x GTX 360 rad

1x Bitspower Y adapter (to drain, place this at the bottom of your loop)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_393_623&products_id=28685

14x Bitspower Compression fittings(Just my quick count, may be off by 1 or 2)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_393_614&products_id=26556

1x Bitspower stop fitting (1/2" ID but you can heat the tubing and force it over, no need for clamps or anything)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_393_612&products_id=26454

2x IandH Silver killcoil(Just drop them in your res, no need to worry about algae this way.)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=28871

Distilled water from the Grocery store, don't use any dyed fluid. It can gunk up your blocks.

I think that's everything... Now, for loop setup..

You'll likely want your loop setup in this order: Res --> Pumps --> Rad(s) --> CPU 0 --> CPU 1 --> Res

Place your res above the pumps. Mount it with the triple holes facing toward the bottom of your case, the top hole can be used to fill. When filling..

Pour the distilled water into the top of the res, a funnel might be nice for doing this. When the res is full, turn on the pumps. (If you have a spare PSU that would be a great aid here. once the res starts to get empty shut the pumps off, fill more, and repeat. After a few times you should have the water coming back into the res, so close up the res.

Now for a tricky part, air gets stuck in the Radiators. So you have to tip the case/rad(s) around, to get the bubbles to come out. It may not seem like much would be in there but believe me you'll be surprised by it. When there's not any more air coming into the res, open the top up again and fill it up to your liking. Then, add the killcoils. And boom, you're done.

WCing really isn't that hard, just takes a lot of though on how you want to set it up. When I do my WC I sit and stare at the case for a while to figure out the best way to do it. You can see my build here, stuff in it may help you. And if you need anything just let us know.
