Trying to update the BIOS on an old Z68 SLI motherboard in a system running Windows 10. Downloaded the files and created a bootable DOS USB with Rufus. Instructions say to simple run the appropriate .bat file off the USB from DOS, but I get an error saying they can't be run in DOS environment.

Any assistance or recommendations with be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks much!

Hello and Welcome to the EVGA Forum
I have link here and below for you how to use flash your BIOS motherboard!!
Before you do please make sure set to default in your BIOS setting and save the reboot.. follow boot up Windows
    • If in Windows Vista or later - Disable UAC in Windows as this can sometimes conflict. (Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings, click and drag the slider down to "Never Notify" and click OK, then you MUST reboot for this take effect.). You can re-enable this later if you use this feature.
    • Close all open programs.
    • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and run the appropriate batch file.
      • For Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 32Bit: FPTWIN32.BAT
      • For Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8  64Bit: FPTWIN64.BAT
      • If in DOS Mode: FPTDOS.BAT
    • Press Y in CAPITAL LETTERS to start the flash process
    • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
    • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS, Load Defaults, Save and Exit.
    • Go into BIOS and make sure it says release 15 on Overview page. If BIOS did not flash correctly, please follow these directions.
For USB flash go link > here

Thanks so much for responding. Unfortunately, this is the exact procedure I tried that gave me the 'can't run that file in DOS' message. Any other thoughts or tips?

    Not a problem
Did you use CMD (command prompt) in Windows? (don't use this) Just reading post here said > Flashing your BIOS from within windows is inherently the most dangerous way to attempt a flash....

I booted into DOS with a USB. Was told the batch file wouldn't run in Windows 10 CMD 'cause it's created for Windows 7 or 8.
