Near-future VR SLI/NVlink support

I was reading something on the Nvidia site https://developer.nvidia.com/vrworks/graphics/vrsli and I was wondering: as VR requirements/capabilities rise, would this be a good reason to continue SLI/NVlink, as each GPU can then process the video stream for each eye, vs a single GPU having to process the video stream for both eyes simultaneously?
 
Granted, at this time, there are very few games/programs that now support/will support this capability. In the future, what do you guys see the probability of this avenue being pursued? Any conjecture?

    3090 is designed for 8K screens ... should get the job done
     
    your link is to Maxwell 900 series cards ..... 30 series are exponentially more powerful
