According to the new report from HKEPC, NVIDIA will launch its new high-end GPU in January. The next SKU in the GeForce RTX 30 pipeline is the RTX 3080 Ti, according to the article. This particular model had, in fact, just appeared in the rumor last week when kopite7kimi provided the initial specs of the graphics card. Most of these specs have been confirmed by HKEPC.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will be equipped with GA102-250-KD-A1 GPU. The website reports on the 10496 CUDA core count (we were unable to confirm this part of the leak yet). The graphics card would also feature 20GB of GDDR6X memory (the memory speed is currently unknown) across a 320-bit interface. The TGP of the RTX 3080 Ti is estimated at 320W, which is the same value as for RTX 3080 non-Ti. The site reports that 3080 Ti will lack the NVLINK connector. The board number of the RTX 3080 Ti is PG133 SKU 15 (RTX 3080 uses the same board design).
We have been able to partially confirm this rumor just today. Such SKU does exist on the most recent roadmap. However, please do note the roadmaps do change when manufacturers adjust their plans to better target competitor’s offers. We have already seen such an adjustment with RTX 3080 20GB graphics card, which was eventually scrapped.

AMD is currently not expected to have other high-end GPUs in January, thus we expect no significant changes to the current roadmap.

I'm assuming by that time Samsung will be able to crank out more NVIDIA GPU chips.

AMD doesn't have any high end GPU's NOW, the new cards are a month out and who knows how they will actually perform.  I kinda doubt a few fancy AMD graphs are enough to spur Nvidia into a response.  Heck, they are already making excuses for when they don't have great 4K ray tracing performance:

If 3080Ti uses TSMC there is a point to the launch..... if not then it wont it eat into the RTX 3090??

As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

I think Nvidia is probably at least a little worried. If nothing else, the new AMD cards are quite a bit smaller and likely more efficient. Obviously we'll need to wait for third-party reviews, but it wouldn't surprise me if this 3080 Ti is indeed real and is a response to AMD's offerings. Will be interesting to watch it all play out.

Obviously the RTX 3080ti is targeted at AMD's top end video card at about 999 dollars.

Which doesn't make sense as the 6900 XT (according to amd) trades blows with the 3090 already. Releasing another 3090 with slower memory and calling it a 3080 ti is just going to make that gap much bigger.

I would basically bite on whichever one I could get at $1000 or lower. The $1700-$1800 we are seeing for 3090s is too much for my use case.

Thank the underdog AMD for this version to be released, ye😼.
I will say cancel.your preorder of the 3080 and get this version instead.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

    Replying to@kopite7kimi

The fact is Ampere will have new steppings, still use SAMSUNG 8N, for a better yield. It's not a big change.

....seems Nvidiais gonna have chips with new steppings

No that is not a refresh - just new steppings

GH100 and H100(hopper) are on 5nm TSMC ... same silicon as  Apple A14 silicon
    will use N5P ... not N5
    thats 5nm+

Those can (in contrast to new graphics card variants based on existing technology) not be pulled out of the hat - which is particularly true of 1.5 GByte memory chips, which would help nVidia incredibly in the current situation By means of the same, nVidia could immediately set up a competitive offer on the memory side - which is all the more significant as it comes down to a roughly equal performance in terms of performance and the significantly different amounts of memory are currently the "tip of the scales" within this generation of graphics cards surrender.

    so
    18GB 3090 or 3080ti
    15GB 3080
    12GB 3070

    is possible

I personally don't see it happening since we haven't even seen the AMD reviewed by independent reviewers. What might be happening is people spreading rumors to get people to hold off on picking up a 3080 or NVIDIA trying to keep interest off of AMD's launch by having people wait until January to see if these cards are real. It could also be websites going whelp NVIDIA and AMD just launched new cards how do we get people to come to our site now I know lets say a Ti model is coming soon!

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Doesn't matter if people DID hold off on buying Ampere... there still wouldn't be any stock anywhere to buy.

New steppings sounds pretty logical, probably some tweaks as well as making the frequency/cap sensitivity less of an issue. Radeons go on sale Wednesday, so we will see the performance then!

I wish this had come out sooner. I'm kind of set on the 3090 K|NGP|N, but I definitely would have gone with a 3080 Ti if it was like half the price of the 3090. The extra RAM is just an absolute necessity for running a lot of different AI/ML algorithms.

IHMO Nvidia will in fact release a card that directly competes with the 6900XT in price and performance, there is too much room between the 3080 and 3090.

IMHO Nvidia really screwed up the pricing on the 3080 and 3090.  The 3080 should have been $899 and the 3090 should have been $1999.  Then a 3080 Ti for about $1200.

Now they are stuck offering a 3080 Ti for $999.

Coreteks had an interesting yt segment on the perversity of spending exorbitant cash on a product that will rapidly devalue. Instead he suggests spending 1.5 k on a new LG OLED whose scaler renders 1080p almost indistinguishable from 4k. That way you get more mileage from perfectly good hardware (your cpu and 1070 or rx 580)) and get a massive upgrade in a visual feast for the eyes that you will definitely notice. I guess it's a lot easier to feel connected to other people when you can share your frame rate numbers. It's such a concise abbreviation to emotional satisfaction. Whereas, how do you communicate the realism of playing tomb raider on an OLED? or Metro Redux? Really, numbers are so much easier to throw around than words.

My buddy just got an rx 6800. It's just as fast as my 3080 ftw3 in COD Warzone. I watched some 3080 vs rx 6800 none XT benchmarks and it's kind of embarrassing lol.
Not sure if I should wait for a 3080 ti step up or sell my 3080 and get stuck wating for 6900xt.

Thank you for posting facts. It doesn't hurt sharing this type of information.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

yeah man. I'm not a fan boy but it kind of hurts i have to admit. Not that the 3080 is slow. It's the price when you compare the two.
