NVIDIA Preps New GeForce RTX 30 “GA102” Series SKU To Tackle AMD Radeon RX 6800 Series – To Feature 7424 Cores & 320-Bit Bus

The name for the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series graphics card cannot be confirmed at the moment by Kopite7kimi does provide a look at what the specifications are going to be like. It is likely that the original GeForce RTX 3070 Ti just wasn't enough to match up with the Radeon RX 6800 series graphics cards hence NVIDIA has decided to pump the specifications by replacing its GA104 GPU with the GA102 GPU.

Previously, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti was going to feature the full GA104 GPU with 6144 CUDA cores. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti was also supposed to feature a 256-bit bus with a 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM but that has changed too. As per the new specs, the card would most likely come with a 320-bit bus interface and as such, we can expect a 10 GB GDDR6X VRAM.

ie your new 3070ti

10GB or 20GB

the other one was canceled

this is what competition has brought - nVidia is revamping the lineup

expect a revamp 3080 or 3080ti and maybe even a new 3090 or 3090ti

It would be nice to see a "3080 Super" get released at the same price point as the current 3080 like they did with the 2080's.  Not holding my breath, but then again, I didn't think they'd do it with the 2080's but they did...

not happening till super refresh next year, it makes sense too, lower power consumption so higher boost clocks, and 7nm should allow for even higher clocks than now, and micron will have 2gb memory chips ready

What happened? 3080 and 3090 fast no more🤣🤣.
AMD 600 series are so slow Nvidia decided to start from scratch and end the recent lineup?🤔
So it can produce a slower gpu to beat AMD?🤣🤣🤣🤣
    TOLD YA😼

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

no refresh next year - straight into 5nm and hopper - 5nm is up and running

7nm from tsmc going into Ampere production - Nvidia bought up some 7nm space

    ........................
Nvidia is working on improved RTX 3000 GPUs and will have them produced by TSMC at 7 nm.
The company has decided to do this because it is not happy with the low yields achieved at Samsung.
This is evident from a Chinese report that news site Digitimes has acquired. The shortages caused by the low yields will persist until 2021.

The report also shows that Nvidia achieves higher yields with TSMC's 7 nm nodes and that the chips are more efficient than the 8 nm chips made in Samsung's factory.
Nvidia has also already purchased 5 nm production capacity from TSMC.
This capacity will probably be used for the “Hopper” GPUs that are due to be released one year after the Ampere.

Well, I'm already waiting on a GPU upgrade due to lack of stock, adding on more reasons to wait makes it seem like it might not be such a bad thing.

Nvidia has moved to a 1yr cadence from 2 yr cadence due to AMD RDNA2, RDNA3,RDNA4 - cadence of 1yr each

they also have to compete with Intel who will also be moving to 5nm (they bought up 5nm from TSMC too)

I think something like this will happen. the 6900 xt will complete with the 3090 at half the cost and clearly beat the 3080 in the process. Nvidia will shortly counter with a 7nm based 3080 TI that will be 30-40% faster than the 3080 and will cost $1200-1500 and blow AMD clear out of the water.

Doesn't matter, it's all paper anyway. The 3080/3090 launched over a month ago, and they can barely meet 5% of demand, if that. NVidia are so far behind with supply that any 3070 released over the next month will likely not be available until well into 2021, with the exception of maybe a couple of hundred cards released to keep people hoping they have a chance. This is a huge opportunity for AMD to take a big bite of market share if they have a good supply come launch day on 10/28.

Supply & demand. Right now NVIDIA have no supply to meet the demand... all AMD has to do is have cards available & they're going to win this GPU gen in a landslide.

I read that the NVIDIA story is completely bogus about what they are producing.... and that the latest estimate was that they are only meeting somewhere between 5-7% of orders places by e-tailers/ retailers .

AMD can definitely come up huge here if they have any stock at all during launch through Christmas ..

Nvidia has quietly did this on a few previous series where they change out the GPU without changing a card name. At most is you'll see a minor change on product SKU. The devil is in the details, so it pays to research specific cards for specs.

People also need to make up their minds about the story of GPU supply. Either the retail prices dropped so much for 3000-series vs 2000-series because of good yields out of Samsung, or the yields are so bad they're hedging their bets with TSMC. It can't be both.

My thoughts on AMD. My guess is they could of paper launched already and it would of turned out like Nvidia did this launch, so they're sitting on it till they can do it right. The best lessons are learned by watching someone else screw up epicly and knowing enough to avoid that same fate.
