NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti's GA102-225 GPU pictured and specifications leaked - VideoCardz.com

After numerous delays, NVIDIA has finally settled to launch its new enthusiast graphics card in May, multiple source claim. As we approach the launch of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the usual cycle of specs and pricing rumors floating around the web has begun. This means that the launch is indeed imminent. A source has provided a first photograph of the new Ampere GPU. As reported earlier, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is based on GA102-225 GPU. This variant will feature 10240 CUDA cores and it will be paired with 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

A small note before we go into mining hash rate. It appears that the graphics card is not recognized by the driver. It is possible that the sample being tested dates before NVIDIA introduced its alleged crypto mining limiter. It is said that NVIDIA will be releasing new variants of its entire RTX 30 series which would feature both crypto limiter and ResizableBAR support. Before this was communicated to AIBs, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti qualification samples did not have the limiter. This was revealed by Igor’sLAB. We do not know which qualification sample was tested by the leaker, nor of this score is true, but it is possible that the mining performance represented in this leak actually features a sample that has no limiter implemented.

According to the screenshot, this particular GeForce RTX 3080 Ti sample would offer an ETH mining hash rate of 118.9 Mh/s. That’s a lot. But this is also after optimizations (we can see that the TDP is reduced to 278W and the memory clock is 21.4 Gbps).  Such a mining performance would certainly not go unnoticed by miners. After all, literally, the first performance leak of RTX 3080 Ti features mining performance. It just proves how big of a problem it has become.

This leak also reveals RTX 3080 Ti clock speeds of 1365 MHz base and 1665 MHz boost. That’s lower than both RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. A reduction in clock speeds was to be expected though. This model would pose a threat to NVIDIA’s own flagship and that’s something NVIDIA cannot allow to happen. The 12GB GDDR6X memory appears to be set to 1188 MHz by default, which confirms 19 Gbps speed, just as RTX 3080.

Well I think there are more than enough leaks to confirm the existence of the card.

    Not impressed. 😁👎

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

    lower clock speeds from a 3080 seems weird though.   It should be in-between a 3080 / 3090 ...,

When was the last time base and boost clocks actually mattered? GPU Boost 1.0 or 2.0? Certainly not since GPU Boost 3.0 and 4.0...

Wow, those clock speeds are massively low. If NVIDIA is choosing low clock speeds for product segmentation reasons, what is going to stop people from overclocking the cards back up to their full capabilities? Or is the silicon that poor that it isn't a concern of theirs?

My 3080 FTW3 reads 1440 Mhz base, 1800 Mhz boost in GPU-Z, so their readings of 1365/1665 seem totally in line with what you would expect from a 3080 Ti reference / FE card.  They will still clock up to 2,100 mhz or so with proper OC. The 3090 XC3 Gaming has a 1695 mhz boost clock and the 3080 XC3 Gaming is 1710 mhz - the lower line card with far less cores usually has a higher clock, if they use the same chip.  So a 30mhz cut with only ~250 less cores than a 3090 is totally normal product segmentation / binning.

Also keep in mind that these GA102 chips are from a bin that were not good enough to be used in a 3090, but too good to be wasted on a 3080, in terms of the number of good cores.

The question then becomes what is price.  3080 FTW3 Hybrid $900, 3090 FTW3 Hybrid $1870.  If it's much more than $1200 (in FTW3 hybrid trim) I'm going to have to pass, as the 3080 FTW3 Hybrid is working really well for me in 4K120 VRR and was ~$750 at the time after code and $30 evga bucks.  Tempting though.

Not sure which way to take that. Either your g/f has a very unattractive butt (and she will not be pleased if she sees your post), or your g/f has an awesome butt. Better post a pic to clarify. Or maybe better not post a pic to clarify. It depends. Maybe you don't have a g/f, which means a blank space is better clickbait than the 3080Ti post. Maybe I am over-analyzing this.

Wow, those clock speeds are massively low. If NVIDIA is choosing low clock speeds for product segmentation reasons, what is going to stop people from overclocking the cards back up to their full capabilities? Or is the silicon that poor that it isn't a concern of theirs?

"The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti pictured may be a qualification sample (QS) that dates prior to the introduction of the anti-mining limiter. This is evident as the driver itself didn't recognize the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or it would have sliced the mining performance in half easily." - tomshardware.com By Zhiye Liu

Possibly the card was not pushed as hard and clocked lower so it would not burn out as fast while mining 24/7? Or it could be what Liu said, that it could be a sample and the OS was like "what is thing thing?!", thus could not clock higher?

    ====Another thought====

"Nvidia has implemented additional mechanisms into the GA106-302 silicon so cracking the anti-mining limiter won't be as easy as before." - tomshardware.com By Zhiye Liu

Begs the question, if they are able to run Etherium mining on the 3080TI because the OS can not load the proper driver to stop it, then this could imply that the limiter it is not built into the silicon and is only at the driver level. However maybe the silicon was changed AFTER the picture was taken of the mining rate.

    Speculation is fun...

All I can do is laugh at this,  you know they will be buying them by the conex full at the ports in Asia pretty much right off the fabs like they have been doing since last year and even before last year. Nvidia to vendors will not do a thing, paying customers regardless, they pay right up front probably do not even get a bulk discount to be able to entice companies enough to sell right then and there at the ports. But yeah the reason all I can do is laugh because what else can you do. Not much.

I think those images are from an early test version of the 3080Ti (no crypto lock due to lack of drivers), so the actual card may be much better. Who knows though lol.

3090 is around 120Mh/s for 1600 euros, so the 3080 TI is pretty much the same for 500/600 euros less. I think she will be the target of a lot of miners...

Depends of the thermic pads, if they are the same than the 3090, the 3080TI won't be able to mine at 100%.

Miners got a hand of 3080 ti first, lol

You can get one now too, there are some shops in ME that sell them for 3500USD. If you are willing to shell that out you too can have one but I doubt you would be interested in doing that.
