I understand EVGA officially supplies drivers only for Windows, but I'm really curious to find out whether the card is running for anyone under Linux/ALSA.  This often happens when a chipset driver is available and supported in ALSA.  I'd really love to replace my ASUS Essence STX II with this card, but I must have Linux support.   Many thanks in advance!

I have the Nu audio card running under Linux (Mint mate 19.1).  No configuration.  The card does need the 3.3vdc active on the SATA power connector or it won't work.  The gain for PCM audio is very low, the gain for DSD seems to be normal (DoP data transfer).  I need more gain for PCM audio, so I am probably missing Nu Audio card volume control that a specialized driver might provide.

I've also heard that some people have gotten the base functions of the card to work under Mac and Linux.  However, as you noted, some features are likely missing without the driver installed.

And you can't get motherboard drivers either.

I have bought 3 EVGA graphic cards over time as well as other brands and EVGA was always just better.  I'd really like to buy EVGA sound cards but I spend 99.9% of my time in Linux and crippled performance/support isn't going to get my support in return.  Sorry guys.  I know Linux is lucky if it represents 2% market share but that's 2% of billions, right?... not as shabby a market as might seem at first glance.  Add to that Linux appeals to power users who often work on/repair/build other's PCs or simply recommend their favorites and their work and opinions are most often greatly respected whether the client uses Linux or not.  Please take a tip from many other Johnny Come Latelys and up your game or get even further behind than AMD/Ati compared to Nvidia

as written above, look here: https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-Nu-Audio-Linux-Drivers-m2989187.aspx

Performance (i.e., audio performance) is not crippled under Linux.  EVGA has provided solid, 2 channel stereo support for quite a while now.   The only other card that comes close is the Asus one, which is effectively useless in AMD AM4 motherboards.  Having owned both, the EVGA provides better audio quality, especially when recording.

Thank you, tigerdognew... honestly, thank you.  I'm really glad to hear that there has been a change for the better. It doesn't seem to be at all well known which was a real shame with what appears to be a great audio system.  In my case it is good news because all I care about is Stereo.  Can you tell me is the the "un-crippling" due to actual drivers by EVGA or is it just the built-in kernel drivers supporting the chips? This is by no means any sort of value judgment since roughly 10 years ago I bought and ESI Juli@ PCI card that still only has basic chipset support and it served me very well.  Obviously almost nothing comes with PCI slots any more so I am in the market for a good PCIe card.  I'm pleased and relieved EVGA's Nu card is now a valid possibility.

Support comes with a firmware loader and Linux-specific firmware for the module.  Unfortunately, you must load the correct firmware from Windows, but this is a one-time thing.  Once done, you'll have stereo record and playback integration with ALSA, Pulseaudio, etc.

I recently updated Linux kernel to 5.11. My Nu Audio cards analogue output seems to be detected and working. Odd thing is in sound settings this is showing up as four channel - with two rear channels...

I confirm what Teddy Rogers writes above.  With Xubuntu 21.04, Linux kernel 5.11, the card shows up and works with firmware 0.32 installed.  However, it only allows use of Mic input; I did not find a way to switch to line.  To use line in, I had to load the special Linux line-in firmware 0.2.
